Hi, I started MFP around 5 days ago and it has been going really good expect today!:(

I'm a student so I have lots of essays and assignments to do which keep me up at nights. I just ate a whole bunch of calories because I felt like munching on something..I always seem to need study snacks at night to stay up and focused.
Are there any other students here that have the same problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance:)

Way past my student years, but... I'm a night shifter.

I like to cut up an apple into wedges and dip in peanut butter.

Also like a cheese stick with (portioned out) Kellogg's All-Bran crackers and a few grapes or strawberries.

I'm also a nightshifter...and I struggle with this on nights I'm off (like tonight) and unable to sleep. I have eaten more tonight than I would have preferred, but didn't eat unhealthy. I try to keep quick things around, like pre-packaged grapefruit from del-monte, I always drain it to avoid the extra sugar. I love apples so they are always around. I try to think about what I can eat with the highest volume and least amt of calories and sugar.

Tonight has been a rough night for me, I need to go to the grocery and have little in the house. I feel your pain!

I am going to remember the cheese stick and berries idea. (I'm on a low carb diet so the all-bran is out) Late night snacking is hard to beat, sometimes I just log on here for a few for some motivation and support and then find I'm not really hungry!

Low carb: have you tried the Nu-Go Smarte Carb (Peanut Butter Choocolate) bars? Yummy!! The hospital I work at comes around with a treat cart (freebies!!) for the night shifters and I always try to grab one of those. Reminds me of a Rice Krispie treat with a chocolate coating. I will always try and grab one of those off the cart and a piece of fruit.

The program I am on encourages you to eat every 2-3 hours up until an hour prior to bedtime so snacking is good!
Theory is eating keeps your metabolism burning calories/fat.
So long as you keep your snack at 200 calories or less u should be in good shape (according to my program :)
My fav 200 calorie or under snacks are Trader Joe's low fat mild cheddar cheese sticks and some crackers, Luna Bars,
Crackers and Hummus, white cheddar popcorn (Trader Joe's is good!) or if really hungry a half turkey sandwhich on whole wheat with lettuce and tomato.

I have the same problem being a student :) have a good dinner, but also try and get your work done during the day. I know, easier said than done - it's midday now and I'm yet to start!
