Hi everyone
Since I had my thyroid removed in Oct 08 I have gained 25 pounds that the Dr says I must loose.
That my frame is to small to carry that much extra so he put me on a 1200 calorie diet. I could chew my own arm off...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a thyroid problem, but luckily, so far anyway, take care of it with medication.
To help control you from "chewing off your arm" I recommend making sure you eat plenty of protein and fiber each day. Also, drink lots of water, it really does help! :drinker:

I also have a thyroid problem but treat mine with a daily dose of medication. Unfortunately I gained some weight before it was diagnosed that I had hypothyroidism. I have lost about 15 pounds since then through eatting right and exercising. I am only 5 ft tall and my ideal weight is around 120 pounds so I have to work hard to get the last pounds off
I recommend using the food diary here on MFP and logging all of your food. Find a exercise routine that works for you. The weight will come off with hard work and dedication.

Yep...diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and thyroid cancer six years ago....had my thyroid taken out and gained 80 pounds fairly rapidly. I used to feel hungry all the time, even on Synthroid. Now that I'm working out consistently and trying to eat a healthier diet, I don't feel quite as hungry. I try to fill up on lots of veggies, and high fiber. Let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck to you!0
