Anxiety Attacks..I think...

I have never had and anxiety attack in my life but, I have woken up twice in the last 3 weeks from a dead sleep with a palpating heart and night sweats. The first time I thought I was having a heart attack and was scared because I didnt think i would be able to get to my sons room and wake him up(he is a heavy sleeper), I did not think I could move from my seated position on the bed. Then I laid down on my left side and talked myself down. I was covered in cold sweat. the next day I felt tired and drained. I had a significant amount of stress earlier that day and thought maybe it was related to that. I work at a hospital and talked to many people about it. most said it was an anxiety attack. It never happened again until last night. I did not sit up and I just talked myself "down" and finally went to sleep. Today when I worked out I recognized the same feeling in my chest, it was the same "strain" that I felt at night. I have had my heart checked and all of that and am ok. Has anyone else had this start happening now that they are working out? Could this be part of starting menopause?

I have had a panic disorder from being a teen. You sound exactly like you are having major ones. There are ways to deal with it with breathing, meds, ect. If it keeps getting worse, go see your doctor. They can help! Add me if you would like. I totally understand.0

I would definitely check with your doctor. Dr may be able to recommend something to help whether it is a medication or breathing techniques. Hope it all checks out ok for ya!0

I have had anxiety attacks all my life and have had what you had. But yes it could also be the start of menopause, it sometimes causes the adrenal glands to fire up, I know a couple of women including my mom (who was about 47 at the time) experience this.0

I have had the same things on occasion...mine where panic/anxiety attacks. I am on meds that help tremendously and can honestly say I have not had any since. I do have on occasion the night sweats...but that is during that TOM. Thats a whole nother topic that has me possibly staring pre menapause....yippee lol.0

Take Vitamin B12. It wont help prevent the anxiety attacks, but it will help you not feel so drained after you have had one.
My fiance swears by it, and he suffers from severe anxiety attacks. He use to have them once a week until he got on his new meds now he gets them only once a month. He has cold sweats too, but it is a common side effect to the meds he's on.0
