Calorific Value of Sleep

I like to have my weekly weigh-in eve. The night before I record on here.

Stepped on yesterday evening and saw a GAIN of a pound. Okay says I, I normally weigh in the morning, a sleep a pee and a poo and I'll try again tomorrow.

  • Weight at any given time can depend on a whole lot of things. What did you eat that day? Was there a lot of salt (water retention)? Or not a enough fiber? Did you drink enough water? Did you eat more carbs than normal? Is Aunt Tilly (my grammy's pet name for your period) coming to visit? Was there a full moon? This is why most experts will say to NOT weigh in daily. Weigh in once a week under the same, or at least similar, conditions.

    Even during sleep, you burn calories. Your heart still beats, your brain is still kicking, you dream, you think. Sleep does not CAUSE weight gain. It's all the other stuff that can.
