Looking at Diary, what's causing this bloating? Augh.

So I've recently switched to gluten-free and trying to eat less fiber throughout the day, as I was dealing with some painful stomach problems. I've always been a vegetarian that occasionally ate seafood, but in December I tried to go Raw, and caused horrible gas. So far gluten-free has been the best i've been eating.

Today however, my stomach is in horrible pain and bloated. I haven't eaten since my fruit at around 1030. I still went for my run and that was a challenge.

I did last night, after well over a week of eating well, had a beer and thai rice noodles for take out with a friend. I proceeded to eat the entire portion as I was famished. Could my bloating today be left over from all of the sudden sodium and massive food that I shoved down my throat?

It can take a few weeks or more to get the wheat completely out of your system and not have symptoms. Also did the beer have wheat in it??

Part of your horrible gas could simpy be from the diet change. Your body may just need time to readjust.

It was a gluten free beer. Luckily our local microbrewery has one.
  • I like the idea of the raw diet, but girl, raw veggies will bloat you till the high heavens! There's nothing wrong with cooking your veggies :)

I'm gluten free, too. Beer (unless you're drinking GF beer) is chocked full of gluten. I actually found that Thai sauces typically contain gluten, too (not the most fun discovery).

The longer you go gluten free, the more severe the results of eating gluten is--I discovered this over the weekend. It stinks, but it's really good to know ahead of time! :)

Feel free to add me if you'd like pointers on gluten free (I've been eating this way for almost 4 months). :)

My belly actually gets that way from some fruit and vegetables. I havent had that pain and uncomfortableness since I havent had those foods... my point is it could be a number of things not just wheat. Also, yes, i think it could take several days at least to get all that sodium out of your system, it does me, even a week.

Fibrous veggies... Sounds like they're doing their job in cleaning you out. I'm not a fan of the gluten-free craze. I gets a hoot out of my poots.

I think the biggest thing I like about gluten-free is that it keeps me from grabbing things like bagels, scones, and desserts when I go to a cafe. Instead of coming home and making a huge sandwich, I have some fruit and almonds. I found I can eat a LOT more throughout the day of things that make me feel better, instead of filling up on breads, sweets, and the like.
