Hi, I am new to MFP ...I want to try calorie cycling early in my efforts this time to prevent a plateau which in the past has been demoralizing enough for me to give up.... My daily calorie level by MFP is set at 1510. Does anyone have suggestions on the best pattern of cycling to achieve results? Thanks for all your help!

I'd love to hear some ideas on this as well. I'm in the same boat--new to MFP, and interested in keeping my metabolism from stagnating. How effective is calorie cycling? How many up days vs down days? How much of a spread?

I successfully did calorie cycling, using the free calculator here: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

I tend to set my activity level for sedentary and add back my exercise calories (and eat them back).

In MFP, I set my goal to the lowest calorie day, and then created custom exercises in MFP for each day of the week to add 1 calorie or XXX calories, according to the calorie cycling schedule I set for myself, so everyday, I just added an exercise for the day of the week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc.) to allow for those extra calories and also so I didnt' have to worry about remembering how many calories I was supposed to eat that day.

    Hope this helps.

    Good Luck!

Thanks so much! That's really helpful, and I appreciate it! I'm having a tough time because I've never really had a weight problem before. But then I had a baby and broke my foot (badly, had surgery and was immobile for many months) and couldn't run as I always had... And well, here I am, trying to lose weight. So the info is good. Thanks!
