Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for new ideas for breakfast. I usually eat eggs with toast but am looking for more ideas that will curve hunger attacks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

T

  • I love 100% whole wheat bagels. They provide both fiber and protein and keep me filled up most of the morning.
  • I met with a nutritionist and she suggested (Protein+ Starch + Veg/Fruit each eating time to get all the nutrition I need and the added benefit is it fills you until Lunch--this is the first time I have not been hungry between breakfast and lunch!!!!

    Some breakfast suggestions

    #1
    yogurt (protein)
    banana (fruit)
    slice whole grain toast (starch)

    #2
    oatmeal (starch)
    dried cranberries (fruit)
    hard boiled egg (protein)

    #3
    cream of wheat (starch)
    orange (fruit)
    cottage cheese (protein)

    Hope that helps.

  • Well you didn't specify any guidelines, so...

Oatmeal--stir in pb and a chopped banana
    Greek yogurt--berries, nuts on top
Egg sandwich--1WHOLE egg, wheat bread, cheese
Whole grain waffles (ones with 100 cals or less per waffle OR homemade)-topped with fruit and a drizzle of syrup, honey, or dollop of yogurt
Other hot cereal--oat bran, cream of wheat
Smoothie--yogurt, fruit, milk, protein powder (optional)

Oatmeal is my go to for breakfast. It fills me up for a little over 100 calories and it seems to get my metabolism fired up because when I eat it for breakfast I notice that I am hungrier for lunch earlier than if I just skip breakfast like I used to.

Downhomechik has a great suggestion as well with the protein, starch and fruit/veggie.

    Excellent suggestions from posters.
Also, cottage cheese and sliced tomato on Ezekiel, Rudi's, or Food for Life toast (whole grain or spelt).

I like to eat a few things for breakfast, heres my favourites!
Fried egg (actually cooked with no oil just using a non stick pan on low heat) with a granary roll
Mature cheddar in a granary roll
50g mixed dried fruit , seeds and nuts
Porridge made with soya or other dairy alternative milk
    2 boiled eggs
    cereal and dairy alternative milk
Vegetarian sausage , hash brown, beans and fried egg (again no oil)

I have to keep dairy to a minimum in my diet as it plays havoc with my internals if I have too much one portion per day maximum for me.

My latest breakfast craze for me has been1 egg white and 1 egg scrambled then add a wedge of laughing cow cheese on top. Delicious. It might not hold you over until lunch, so add a banana or apple. I have to eat a snack in between breakfast and lunch b/c of blood sugar issues.

I am totally obsessed with making protein pancakes. There are lots of recipes out there and I have been playing around with what works best... generally some combination of oats, low fat cottage cheese and an egg/egg whites. I put cinnamon in and top with sugar free jam, sliced banana or agave nectar. Tastes so decadent yet is SO healthy and high in protein!! And really keeps me full :)

    This is a good recipe:

    Let's see.
Whole grain waffles with peanut butter and banana or some sliced strawberries.

Fiber one or kashi cereal with any kind of fruit I like blueberries.

I recently discovered pepperidge farm cinnamon bread and weight watchers cream cheese with fruit on top.

I also really like plain greek yogurt with some granola.

You just have to get creative.

My favorite breakfast is Eggo lowfat nutrigrain waffles with peanut butter and a sliced apple sprinkled with cinnamon on top.

Oatmeal made with skim milk and a chopped apple with walnuts and a banana added in is good also. If I don't have walnuts, I'll mix in peanut butter.

    I also eat scramble eggwhites.

Cheerios with skim milk and a banana.
