I am currently underweight(recovering from anorexia) and seriously am wanting to recover however i know people say exercise isn't good for anorexics like as you become over obsessed however i know that dangers of doing to much and my doctor is allowing me to go to work so just wondering i took a pedometer accurate one to work and walk about 3.5-4 miles a day i also life weights 3 x a week to influence to weight gain to go on as muscle mass and i also do 5 minutes on the exercise bike which clocks in 1.5 miles so overall i do about 5 to 5.5 miles of exercise a day just wondering is this enough cardio to remain fit and healthy whilst gaining weight through anorexia also i am eating a very well balanced diet to recover so i suppose i have always been pretty fit like cardiovascular endurance and just wondered if i was doing enough to keep my endurance at a good rate? and a quick question my above lifestyle would you classify that as lightly active or active as just wondering for my calorie needs
thank you

I tried reading that 3 or 4 times, but with no punctuation I couldn't make sense of it.
If you are a recovering anorexic, I would use exercise as a mood lifter (endorphins)... do what you want when you want, but don't ever feel like you need to or should. Focus on getting your eating in check.0 -
One way to dodge the whole sedentary/lightly active/active question is start with sedentary but then record all your activities. You should also just see what it says you should be taking in at different activity levels, so that you can look at things you do basically every day and see whether those add up to "upgrading" your activity level to lightly active or active.
In other words, it doesn't really matter how you classify your activities as long as you properly account for them... my guess is that the walking at work is going to put you a bit closer to active than lightly active, but just check the numbers.
Good luck with your recovery! Be sure to share what you're doing with your doctor, who is in a much better position than anyone on the internet to tell you whether you are exercising too much, too little, or just right...0 -
You should ask your doctor about your exercise program, especially since you are a recovering anorexic.0

If her doctor is a specialist in that field then I would agree that she should go to her doctor. If her doc is a GP then I'd say no, most GP's don't seem to really know much about how to exercise.
Work with your doctor, find a nutritionist, get a trainer that can help with your special situation. Congratulations on overcoming the issue and getting back to a healthy lifestyle. Good luck.0
