Tuesdays are the day that i struggle with most as i'm away from home from 7-7 due to work. i get two half hrs lunches s i have to eat whats on offer in the canteen. the meal options available are extremely bad as its all processed quick meals on offer like lasagna, sausage rolls and chips.quiches which is what they consider to be fairly healthy, or jacket potatoes with either bake beans or cheese. some kind of pasta bake, curry and rice. so i know i have to take my own meals. Yesterday my diet change was completely destroyed. i had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich thanks to my sister, i had asked for her to bring in something healthy for me, a packet or crips and a weight watches cake and then two tortilla wraps with mince meat , onion and tomatoe for dinner when i got in at 8 as it was quick and easy and i was strarving ad i spend atleast 6 hrs on my feet doing hair. Can anyone suggest anything i can take with me as a pack lunch. i dont have the use of a fridge.

Do you have the time to make a big batch of homemade soup? It can last at least a whole week! Take a serving out each day and freeze the rest. Would the kitchen staff heat it up for you? Soup is very filling and good for these cold months:)
  • I feel your pain, the lunches my Uni canteen offers are pretty greasy and the healthy alternatives are usually completely unpalatable. I bought myself a bento box and usually fill it with different kinds of salads and a wholewheat sandwich or wrap, eggs, müesli, fresh or steamed vegetables, fruit, nuts, ...
I usually prepare those lunches the day before and refrigerate them overnight.
  • no i have no way to warm food up. i'll try taking salads but its two meals so salads both time might be too much salad in one day for me as i'm not a bis salad person. maybe a salad for one meal and a sandwich for another. but every week the same might get too boring. i'll have to experiment i guess.

I feel your pain. I usually take soup in a flask, I make leek and potato, takes ten mins, but bought soup is fine if I really don't have time.

My easy options for days like this are.

Soup - In flask if you can't warm it up
Healthy option wrap and fill it with lean meat and salad
I do like my salads, but I vary them with chicken, tuna, and anything else lean and on offer usually.
I sometimes make cold pasta salad as well, but tend to stick with wholemeal pasta, with salad, sweetcorn, peppers.

Thats all I can think of right now! Sorry! :flowerforyou:

Mealbars... I use them when I can't eat an actual meal (like when traveling and I don't want to eat the nasty plane food)
