Just going to babble a bit so I can bump this up again to give my Sixers a chance to report in ... so I had special k with red berries and skim milk for breakfast ... I picked up a large Tim's coffee with double milk on my way to work ... I had a banana for a snack around 10 a.m. ... and it's now lunch time ... I'm having a yummy light caesar salad and an Astro fat free 0% strawberry yogurt. I've had half of my water for the day and all is looking good so far. It's raining here right now which kind of sucks because I would like to go out and walk off some of this extra energy I'm feeling today ... how you all doing???

Whew! I'm down again this week! I think I might actually make my unofficial new goal of 149 by the end of this 6 weeks. I did really well last week until the weekend. And my mom is here through Friday afternoon to spend some time w/ the kids, and of course, she brings baked mac n cheese, pumpkin bread, and fudge! Then she says we all need to eat healthier, including herself. :noway: I'm in charge of dinner the rest of the week, so I plan on fixing healthier meals. I just need to find the time w/ her here to get on my exercise bike!

I hope everyone has a great week!

I keep getting taken off the list one the new weeks is created, I don't know why. Anyway, I lost a few pounds, I am really excited. This is the motivation I need to keep going.

My birthday is Thursday, think I can get away with a bit of desert, or should I just resolve to stear clear?

Awe Amy ... that's me who cut you off. I'm sorry about that. I'm a boob ... I took the first list off of last week's thread instead of the last list. Duh! I'll try to be more careful if I do the new thread again. Happy Birthday to you for Thursday. :flowerforyou:

I think you meant Jennifer =D haha. Thanks! I wasn't sure if I was messing something up or what.

This year has been a hard one. I lost my best friend a few months ago, and last month my father passed. (well he was technically my grandfather but he rasied me so, I say father) My husband is in the Marines and is gone right now, so this birthday isn't one I feel like celebrating you know? But some friends want to take me out to eat, so I am trying to be good even though its an "excuse"! It feels great to see results after trying for so long, so I don't want to do anything to mess it up. I am really grateful to have all you wonderful ladies to come to for support and to see your inspiring stories as well.

Happy Birthday Amy (early) =D I will be 25 this year, I would say I am getting old but I have a feeling I might get my butt kicked for doing so!

Back to where I started this challenge... Ah well, maintaining is always a problem so better that then nothing! I"ve been working out so much I think I'll just use the old 'muscle weighs more than fat' argument!
Lots of pounds disappearing from the group as a whole. Good job all!

Down a half pound this week. I wish it was more, but I'll take it! Did week 2 day 2 of c25k this morning, then added another half hour of walking. It's been a good morning. But, I just finished my lunch, and now it's time to go pick up some groceries and make some banana bread muffins. I like making my banana bread in muffin tins because then I know just how much a serving is. Each muffin is 140 calories, and I make it with 50/50 flour and splenda, so it's not too bad for you. I can post the recipe if anyone wants it. I took a recipe off the internet, then changed half the ingredients, like using Fage yogurt instead of the oil... lol

CandyCaneps, I'm so sorry this past year hasn't been good to you, dealing with the loss of two very close loved ones, and having the sweetie on the other side of the big pond. I am not in your shoes, so I can't give great advice BUT I think you need to resolve to GO OUT for your birthday and SMILE. Your best friend and father (absolutely you should call him that) would want you to SMILE ON YOUR BIRTHDAY, and every other day for that matter. I can't imagine how hard it is to deal with those losses, but try to imagine them SMILING down on you from heaven. Every ray of sunshine is directly from THEM to YOU. Go out and celebrate your birthday. Smile and be happy! (I hope this encouragement helps!!!)

Maggie, thanks for constantly bumping. I do tend to lose this thread. Hopefully my routine will return and I'll be back on here more often and LOSING WEIGHT!!!!

I haven't weighed in this week. I might be able to do so tomorrow morning.... if I remember. If not, my official weigh in might have to become whatever haphazard day I can remember to weigh!! lol

    xo!

I made banana bread muffins (in a muffin pan you know how much is a serving, as opposed to slicing off of a loaf) last night. I found a recipe off the internet, and then changed half the ingredients anyways, lol. They are 140 calories a muffin, although that could be lowered by using just the splenda granules instead of the splenda brown sugar. The fat is less than 1 gram per muffin (wowza). I didn't bother figuring up the rest of the nutrients (I'm lazy that way)

    4 large overripe bananas, mashed
    1/3 cup Fage 2% yogurt
1/3 cup splenda no cal sweetner
1/3 cup splenda brown sugar (lightly packed)
    1 egg, beaten
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/8 tsp salt
    2 cups 50/50 flour

No need for a mixer, I just used the fork I mashed the bananas with. In a bowl, stir in the yogurt with the mashed bananas. Mix in the 2 splendas, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, and stir in. Add the flour last, mix in. Your batter should be lumpy, the lumps will work themselves out when it bakes. I use an ice cream scoop to measure out the batter into greased muffin cups, but you could also bake in a bread pan. Bake at 325 for about 30 minutes for muffins, an hour for a bread pan. This batter made 16 muffins. Extra touches, for the kids, I added some chocolate chips to each muffin, probably about a dozen to each. For DH and I I added about 1/2 TBSP chopped walnuts to each one. The walnuts are included in the calorie count. I also read where other people had added some coffee or a shot of Kahlua or rum to their mix and said that was good. I'm not quite that brave.

I got my digital one at Zellers and it is sponsored by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation so $5 of the cost gets donated to them and it cost the same as other digital scales that were pretty much the same. I can't remember off the top of my head what brand it is but it has the pink ribbon on the box and it works really well and reliably.

Take care and have fun shopping,
    Tammy

Just made a double batch this morning... If your bananas aren't super ripe, or you are only using 3, you will want to drop the flour down to 1 1/2 cups instead of 2. This morning's batch is a bit drier and chewier than the ones I made before. Still delish warm with melty butter on it, but my first batch didn't even need butter....

Tammy, thanks! Who doesn't love getting something pink and support breast cancer research all at once?

    QUICK QUESTION:
Gimme your opinions, facts, and hypotheses.
If I have available calories and eat M&Ms, will that sugary goodness prevent me from losing weight?

I have been STUCK for the past couple weeks and not eating horribly. Not great, but not enough to GAIN weight. I'm confused. I'm not stopping by any means, but I'm worried I'm sabotauging myself. I am doing spin tonight so I have lots of available calories. I was eating M&Ms right now, the peanut ones, and only 1 serving, but I hope I didn't just stop myself from losing weight.

I don't understand.... I've lost weight before now. Why did it just STOP and refuse to START again?!?!?@?!?!?@#@()()&*@!$)(&@!!!!!

The source of your calories does affect your weight loss. I will have to dig out my Nutrition text from University since there is a lot of good info there. Your body uses the various types of sources of energy in a specific order. When you have sugary snacks (more easily converted to energy) then your body doesn't need to look to your body's fat stores for energy. There is a lot more to it so when I find my text I'll type it out since it explains the process better than I can.

    Take care,
    Tammy

I started a thread where I am posting my notes from lecture if anyone is interested. Please note these notes are from 2005 and some of them are in point form that might not make complete sense to some.
