ok so i've had a week off as i've been on holiday..... yesterday i did a 45 min core stability class (first one ever) and today my belly hurts if i cough and if i touch my ribs they feel bruised... i'm taking it thats a good sign but i did decide not to excerise today as I don't want to over do it... have i done the right thing or should I have worked through the pain?....

Listening to your body is important, but sometimes light activity can help reduce that soreness. There is a difference between muscle soreness and injury soreness.
Try a light workout (like a walk) for 10 minutes. If you feel good, keep going. If not, you know you tried.0 -
thanks! i'm newish to excerise and i dont want to over do it and ruin my chances of excersising daily0

I would stretch and do some back work. Anything to get your muscles to relax.0

Ya, I'd do stretching, bit of walking, and then a nice bath0

I would just walk - at a comfortable pace, and drink lots of water!
Oh, and sometimes the 2nd day of sore is worse than the 1st...just warning you0 -
When you get sore you really don't feel like working out until you are better.
I find though that if I am sore and work out that the soreness seems to get better a lot faster.
Maybe just don't do as much as you would normally do but try to do a little.0 -
I am no expert, and I'm sure you'll get advice from those who are trainers or just experienced at working out. However, I think you should do at least a modified version of the same things that made you sore. If for no other reason, to keep those sore muscles from tightening up even more.
Soreness is a good thing, in the beginning!0 -
You learn as you go. This isn't all or nothing! Even if you don't workout today, it does not mean that all is lost! Be proud of your hard work from yesterday .... sore muscles mean you worked them!0

I tend to work through soreness (I'm usually sore somewhere at any given time) and find it diminishes with exercise. But I'd never work the same area. When my legs are sore from Monday's workout, I know I'm not working them hard again until Monday, so there's no point in skipping whatever's up next - arms, back, chest, etc.0
