question about my feet

I didn't know which forum section to put this question in, so I chose this one. I am just curious...has anyone who lost weight had any difference in their feet? I realize this seems like a very random question, but today I was trying to find comfortable sandals to wear to work and my feet are just too wide to fit into anything...like they're too chunky or something...even for some of the wide width ones. Is this something that will change with weight loss?? or am I just going to have to get used to never being able to wear cute shoes?? I left the store today with no shoes...so that means it will be my ugly tennis shoes again for work tomorrow.

I've read success stories on here about people dropping shoe sizes with a large weight loss. Wouldn't say it seems extremely common, but it does happen.

I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE HAD FEET ISSUES WITH WEIGHT LOSS!!! my fee totally changed when i had lost 35 about 3 years ago. I noticed that i started getting a callus and my heels were harder??? I had to pay extra attention to them weekly to keep them from getting rough and callused.

Generally, you will have edema in your feet if you're larger. So yes, you will see some changing in your feet.
You may even drop a shoe size. Some people with flat feet when overweight actually have their arch return when they drop weight which causes a drop in shoe size.

Try pressing on your feet and look for the blanching time (skin is normally pink, you press on it for a second and it changes color and then count the time till it returns to the pinkish color). A long blanch time is a sign of possible poor circulation and/or edema buildup. If you press and a "pit" forms like when pressing into a memory foam mattress, that is a definite positive for edema. If a pit does form, time how long it takes to return to normal.
  • In the past I lost about 50 pounds, and my feet went from normal width, to narrow, and I dropped half a shoe size. I totally understand the width of my feet shrinking, but I was shocked that my shoe size actually changed.
