I'm On My second week here on MFP and i have found some pretty great friends who motivate me every time and I absolutely love it! ,but i have recently found people who added me saying i love motivating, turns out i have not gotten one motivational thing from them but they complain when something is not said to them it is tiring to me. I need some straight up dedicated friends both my age and even older for wisdom! So Please if you want to help me get motivated and stay motivated please add me and i will always help motivate you at anytime.

  • Best thing to do with those friends is "DELETE" :)

I'll be happy to help you get motivated, feel free to add me. :)
  • I feel the same way. I hardly request adds...it's usually people requesting me as a friend and then I add them and support them and try to comment and get to know them and they never say one word to me...I don't get it. I always just want to ask them why they ever added me in the first place?!
  • I hope you don't see me as one of those non-motivating friends :( I really try to do the best I can to get to everyone. If I haven't told you lately, you are doing great and making wonderful progress! All the exercise you and everyone else does is motivating me! So keep up the awesome work!

Welcome to MFP! :) I always motivate and encourage everyone on my list. sometimes they aren't that active or as supportive... I'll just delete them. I do "spring clean" on my list whenever I am free to log in here. But I know how you feel, i have like 100+ friends but only 20 of them are that supportive of me :)

I know exactly what you mean about friends with no motivation. I'm an insulin-dependent diabetic, and until I hurt my back I was always pretty good about keeping my weight in control. I put on weight when I couldn't walk distances or do other forms of exercise. When I was ready to get back in shape I invited my "friend" to join me in walks, stair climbs, etc. No one wanted to come,... and some people made fun of me because I wanted to exercise and get healthy. That's when I joined MFP. I've found a great support system here. You're going to meet a lot of people who only want you to succeed, and who will cheer you on with each victory. We're here for you!
  • I'm 40something & have over 100 pounds to lose. I'm game in motivating you, and vice versa. PLEASE add me as a friend!
    P.S; Great picture!

Gotta say this: YOU have to be your motivation. While friends on here can be supportive, they aren't eating your dinner with you, physically exercising with you, etc.
Don't let "non motivating" friends on here be your excuse NOT to be motivated yourself.

I have a hard time hitting everyone up with motivational stuff, but when I log in I like to comment on the people that have logged around the time I'm on there. I have a lot of friends and sometimes don't get to all of them but that's life. I get few comments on mine but I understand that some people log at different times.

It's been said already, but if you want motivating people around you and don't feel like all of those on here are, just delete the ones who aren't. But, you also have to be your number 1 motivator, as well. Because, if you aren't going to be motivating for yourself, it truly is hard for others to help :) That being said, I'm glad you decided to try MFP...I hope your journey goes well for you, and that you find the love and support you need and want. Good luck :)
Feel free to add if you would like :):glasses:

Please please do not take this as anything but me trying to be helpful, I think you might be focusing on the wrong things that will help you move forward. I think that concerning yourself with changing your lifestyle, more than having silent friends on MFP, will help you more in the beginning. Focus on small changes first and see who goes along for the ride with you :)

Well, I tend to accept everyone that adds me. I can't help it, I can't say no. And while I try to be motivating, it's hard when you have 100 something people. That's just me.

    Also,
Please please do not take this as anything but me trying to be helpful, I think you might be focusing on the wrong things that will help you move forward. I think that concerning yourself with changing your lifestyle, more than having silent friends on MFP, will help you more in the beginning. Focus on small changes first and see who goes along for the ride with you :)

    ...This is amazing advice.

Oh def not, I'm far from focusing on the wrong things..........my whole post is mostly about how its good to have people there with you on your side along the way, and there is nothing wrong with that! I got plenty of self motivation or else id never be doing what i do.Its also about the stupid people on this site who add you and then complain about no one being there for them but yet don't have one good thing to say to anybody or they go 5+ days without a log in,to me that's terrible dedication and no need to be sitting on my friends list. This was a post strictly for an answer to problems people face that are close to mine and looking for added support which i did not think was a bad idea!? Maybe i should just listen to you from now on since you know everything about me? and what it takes
