Try substituting some of the meat that you use to cook with, with vegetarian alternates.
Morningstar farms is a good one, they make veggie burgers, bacon, sausage, "chicken" patties, and more. & you can get them at the grocery store in the freezer section.
I'm a vegetarian, and I can only have 1200 calories a day.
I use it in most of my meals and I always manage to stay under my goal.
Hope this helps0 -
Try roasting a variety of vegetables, brussel sprouts, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, a little diced potatoe (not a lot because that adds up but adds enough flavor when roasted crispy), sweet potato for sweetness. Roast them on cookie sheets with a little olive oil and garlic salt. Place in a bowl and it is a really low calorie HEARTY dinner that you don't feel deprived on. Just make sure you put the diced potatoes and sweet potatoes on its own separate cookie sheet because they take longer to get nice and browned.
Stew about 3 or 4 chicken breasts with a jar of chunky salsa in a crock pot and serve on a bed of lettuce. Use more salsa as a dressing. You can also add black beans to the crock pot. Low cal and yummy. Goes far, too. I feed my family of four on that for at least two nights. You can also put the meat in a tortilla, fold it in half and stick it in a foreman grill: awesome quesadilla. Just resist putting cheese in it, unless you have the room in your days calorie intake.0 -
Since I've started my diet I try to eat as little possible carbs after 3 in the afternoon. So I eat a good filling breakfast a medium lunch and a light dinner.
Examples:
Breakfast - http://www.food.com/recipe/breakfast-frittata-17489 with some whole meal toast (you can pre prepare and eat cold)
Lunch- http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/11304/moroccan-meatballs-with-herb-couscous
Dinner- http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/166638/haddock-baked-with-roasted-peppers-and-feta (I leave out bread crumbs and serve with a salad)
I love cooking and if you search online you can find loads of recipes which tell you the calorie content per serving.0
