    Are you taking measurements?

Without seeing your diary, or knowing what type of exercise you are doing or how much, it's hard to offer up suggestions.

If you are not seeing a change, then you need to change something.

It could be a change in what you are eating, how much, or the types of food; the types of exercise you are doing, again, how much. etc.

ETA: If you are seeing a change in measurements but not weight, that's a good thing.

Wow...I would be frustrated too! Are there other indicators of success besides the scale in the past four weeks? Have you lost inches, gained muscle definition, or do you feel healthier? There are so many other ways to define success besides the scale, so don't give up! Eating right and exercising is a success just by itself...you are treating your body right!

I also don't seem to be losing, like I think I should be, following a strict 1200 calorie a day diet, exercising at the gym the full round of for upper body and lower body strength, walking the treadmill, and doing zumba, plus walking everyday (although nothing fast paced just strolling with my dog)
It just gets so frustrating to not see much results. I started my step aerobics yesterday at home. It's a good hour work-out and that's what seemed to help me five years ago, get the weight off. According to the chart an hour of step aerobics burns up 700 some calories. I am going to do the step aerobics five times a week and see if that will increase the weight loss. I am NOT giving up!!!! I am "In it to WIN it"!!

You're nearing your halfway point! Congrats! I would definitely look into changing some things up. If you've been doing the same exercise for a while why not try something new? Has MFP prompted you to change your calorie goals at all?

You'll have to open your diary for us to see what you're eating....

We all know the formula: calories in vs. calories out...BUT, if you're not eating enough your body will hold on to those calories.

You can also try upping your exercise, try Jillian's 30 day shred (most have gotten good results) or running. That's my thing. I probably run 3x week and can't keep weight on. The C25K program is awesome! Check it out....

I don't usually comment but I've had this happen to me and wanted to offer up some advice. Sometimes eating at your maintenance calories for a few days and then get strict again helps jump start the weight loss all over. A friend of mine years ago helped me with the advice I should hit up McDonalds one time. Sure enough, that did it.

Might sound silly but the body needs to be tricked into thinking it's getting calories / fat or it doesn't want to let go. Before anyone calls me crazy, it's worked for me. Google it...others say the same.

    Good luck!

Modify. I have hit a plateau so I started strength training and increasing my cardio. I have gained weight due to the increased strength training but my inches are decreasing as fast as my weight used to. I have no doubt that my weight will start disappearing again after a few weeks. Every once in a while you have to convince your body you aren't kidding around and this is really a lifestyle change by working through the plateaus. Kudos on being able to do stair steppers. I would need CPR after 5 minutes on a stair stepper. Find an exercise you are not good at and try doing that for a while until you get good at it.

I actually could have written this post. I'm in the same situation. However, this morning I realized I am losing inches. It relieved a ton of frustration. Definitely check your measurements. Good luck to you :)
