Deactivation ~ Motivation to stay focused

Good morning beautiful people....recently I have noticed that quite a few people who are reallly reaching out for help are getting frustrated and giving up soo quickly, and maybe due to embarrassment of what they feel their pals may think, they have simple been deactivating their accounts. I have lost 3 wonderful pals through deactivation, and several of my pals have been losing people who have given up as well...I know life gets in the way and sometimes we take people for granted...but lets try to keep each other motivated in whatever way we can....sometimes the smallest thing we sometimes get sick of (ie: wtg, gm, etc) means the world to someone else.

This is simply a reminder...getting healthy doesn't happen over night, our body doesn't shrink and grow 6 packs because our minds says I want it NOW...we have to work for these results..and we have to be consistant. I am all too familiar with giving up only to restart months later...that is simply time and motivation wasted...this is a marathon...not a sprint....Don't give up on yourselves "Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Love you all

Your friendly MFP, you can only achieve greatness when you try.....

I totally understand your point, but at the same time (to play devil's advocate), some people are simply not ready to commit to losing weight.

We live in a culture of instant gratification and a lot of that same perspective is applied to weight loss when people first decide to jump on the fitness band wagon. I'm all for supporting other people and helping them along their way, but I'm not into mindlessly writing "WTG" and "nice burn" on every single posting - it seems empty and insincere.

I also can't be someone's motivation. THEY have to be their motivation. If they don't want it enough, it's just not going to happen. I know, because it took me years to finally get to the point where I'd really had it and was ready to make a lifestyle change. Deactivating their account may just be a step in their long journey to get to the mental place they need to be in order to make a permanent change.

I'm in as far as they are, and no further, because that's all I can do.

I absolutely agree with you!! I think every other day I post about how hard this stuff is, but, it is my MF pals that get me through the thought of giving up!! My peeps are dedicated and resilient and this only makes me want to work harder!!
