Hi everyone! My name is Bethaney and I am so excited to join myfitnesspal! It's one of the easiest calorie counters I've used so far
I am 21 years old, 5'11 and currently weigh 217lbs. My goal weight is 150.

Here's a little time line of my weight over the past months. 265lbs was my heaviest in my life.
March 2008: 265lbs
July 2008: 235lbs
January 209: 242lbs
May 2009: 225lbs
July 2009: 217lbs

I am trying to make this as easy as possible on myself. I have been portioning out all of my food into little baggies and actually measuring my servings. I got a great cookbook called "Deceptively Delicious" that adds veggie puree to every day items. I have cut out alcohol, coffee, and soda in my diet. I am sort of addicted to Crystal Light  I am working out 5 days a week with my roommates, alternating strength training and cardio circuits during my workouts.

Thanks for joining me on my journey. Best wishes to everyone!

From one Crystal Light addict to another - welcome! And congratulations on your weight loss so far, that's fantastic. I've been wanting to get that book for a while now because I'm as bad as a 3 year old about vegetables. :ohwell: If you find any great recipes, please do post them up in the recipe section for those of us cheapskates. :flowerforyou:
  • Hi, remember to have a cheat day about once a week or so. This will boost your metabolism and your morale. My teenage daughter has been using this site for a couple months and she has had to give up soda and junk food (potato chips and cookies mainly). Now she mainly drinks water, tea with stevia, and light grape juice. However, about once a week (usually Saturday) she gets to have one 12 oz. Pepsi and a small amount of junk (about an extra 400 calories for that one day). We call Saturday the cheat day. Anyway this has really helped to keep her motivated during the week. Just remember the cheat day doesn't mean stuff-your-face-with-junk day, it's just an extra 400 calories or so you don't feel so deprived all the time. It has really worked wonders since we started this. Good luck.

    Hey Bethany:

I started losing weight about the same you did and I was 275, and weigh 219 now, so we are very similar, accept I'm 44, and only 5"2". It will be interesting to see how we both progress!
