Wear capris so your pants don't get twisted in the gears. Comfy clothes is fine. Lots of water, a water bottle that will fit in the bike and isn't too bulky I suggest. Have fun! You're going to get SUCH a good workout but keep to your own comfortable pace!0

I hope that your first spin class went well, they can be brutal. You might want to invest in cycle shorts if you are going to continue to go, it will help you lady parts to not hurt so badly. Also you might want some clip shoes for more power on the bike.0

I second the cycle shorts comment. Keeps the nether regions from becoming overly sore. Especially if you don't do much cycling.0

OK, I'll offer some advice, although I haven't done a spinning class in several years. When I did spin, I found that the proper clothing (biking shorts and shoes, especially) were extremely helpful. Biking shoes have a rigid last, so you pedal without flexing your forefoot. Biking shorts have padding in critical places, the utility of which should be self-evident. Maybe a wicking jersey (you will sweat copiously). Headband to keep the sweat out of your eyes. Bring along a positive attitude and be ready to suffer through some pain. Spinning is a great workout. hi, i tried my first spinning class about 6 months ago and have never looked back since. I will be honest with you, its very hard work and the first time you do it you will wish that you hadnt bothered, but i now spin at least three times a week and i love it. And as a matter of interest you can burn upto 1000 cals in a one hour session. Good luck and perservere with it, its worth it x0

I love spinning, BUT I remember my first few classes my butt hurt soooo bad because I was not use to the bike seat. After a while you will get use to it and you will find that you are able to keep up with the other folks in class too. I also toned and lose a good amount of weight fast!0

Bring water and a towel because you will surely be sweating. It is tough but don't get discouraged. Have fun and don't feel like you have to keep uo with the people around you. I have only done it a few times but it is a really good workout and I would like to start doing it more.0

Just took my 1st spinning class and LOVE it...I am used to riding so I'm not too sore...but I have to say its a great workout and something different than running, which is what I need...crosstraining helps me to be a better runner...good for u for going for it...0

You want to bring a small towel for sweat if your gym doesn't supply towels.
Also, try to get there a little early and tell the instructor you are new to class. He/she will help you set up your bike properly and give you some tips on making the most of your class.
Don't worry if you can't add as much tension as the instructor suggests. Go with what feels right for you. Do keep in mind that you need a good amount of tension on the bike for standing moves. Otherwise, it will be much tougher!
