Ladies, how do you deal with it? tips, tricks, anything?

    It is tough but I just try to stay in the right mind set and not use PMS as an excuse to overeat or eat junk food...I try to work out as much as possible and drink a lot of water. If you feel like eating something bad, grab something to drink or go for a walk or talk a nice hot shower or bath. You'll feel better after it's gone and you being able to stay strong. YOU CAN DO IT!!

    Believe it or not, you do burn more calories when you menstruate. So don't try to limit yourself. I find myself eating a lot of red meat, for the iron mostly, and it's filling. Rarrr. Drink lots of water (as merapp9 said) and avoid too many salty things. Junk food is not going to make you feel good, but I would use it as a time to enjoy some dark chocolate and increase your calorie intake a little bit.

    eat meat, bananas, rice, a bit of dark chocolate, fruit and vegetables :)

    OMG! I feel you girl! I'm the same way about 4 days before TOM shows up. I feel like I could eat the wall paper and then some!:grumble: I add more protein to my meals or eat a larger portion of veggies at meal time so it lasts longer. If your like me I need salt and sweet, so I eat 3 pretzles rods followed up with a sugar-free chocolate pudding for my snack at night. Also, a hot tea with some honey or agave syrup makes it better too. Some how that seems curb those cravings a bit. If i'm tired I just walk. I take the dog and we cruise around the neighborhood. No hurry, I'm still moving at least. Thankfully, it passes in 3 or 4 days and I just get back on track then. It still takes some effort to behave though, darn it!!

    Hey, by the way, you are from my hometown, I still have some family there. I used to go back to run the Bix. It's a fun little river town! Sometimes I miss it...

    I have discovered the mini Ben and Jerry's at the supermarket and oh my lord those are a life saver for TOM.

    I plan for a special treat during the second day of mine cuz I know that will be the worst day....usually a skinny cow ice cream, yum. I suck it up and exercise usually I do kickboxing on my cardio days during TOM cuz I want to whack everyone do to PMS anyway. It actually helps a bit.

    Ugh... I hear ya!!! I try and drink a lot of peppermint tea ( curbs sugar cravings) as for my salt cravings lol I just eat trail mix as a snack... 200 calories for the pack. I heard that you burn more calories during that time (maybe that was wishful thinking) but I think it may be true because for some reason that is the week I usually lose 2 lbs instead of 1... Or maybe because I'm thinking about not overheating more :smile:

    Thanks ladies! those are all really good tips and im so glad im not all alone in my struggle. i like the idea that we burn more calories, im going with that hahaha!
