does microwaving reduce fiber?

I'm needing to focus on getting the maximum fiber in my diet, and for convenience have been cooking my old fashioned oats in the microwave. But if that reduces the fiber value, then i'll go back to dirtying a pan. Does anyone know? thanks.

if a microwave digests my food for me that would be scary, I really don't think it does though. Have you tried using fibre powder it is good too0

LOL, i just thought maybe the sound waves actually broke down some of the fibers....
no, i'm not even aware of a fiber powder -- but thanks for the tip!0 -
Cooking lowers the amount of fiber, but microwaving or steaming for a very short time helps foods keep
most of their fiber content.
Benefiber can be added to anything, but I prefer unprocessed wheat bran ( I add it to my oatmeal), and it's cheaper.0 -
thanks for your good input. I'll have to check out that Benefiber. yes, have used wheat bran too in the oatmeal, but now usually use oat bran to help the cholesterol stuff...both are good!0
