HELP I am gaining weight...!

I want to give up now... nothing seems to be working anymore...!
I am gaining weight everyday. I gained 2 lbs since last night as well. I don't think I am over eating. I try to walk at least 40 minutes a day (to work). Is my food choice bad? I lost well for first two weeks but then after that I am gaining.
Is my scale broken?? Please someone help me!

    I went and looked at your food diary and I know it sounds silly but have you tried eating more ??? Especially if you exercise. Your body needs fuel. Some people only lose weight if they eat at their BMR. Also maybe try tracking sodium. And I didn't see if you were drinking 8 or more cups of water a day. Water really helps.

    Actually I've never really watched the sodium...! Didn't even know that effects the diet. I never tried to eat more either. I just looked at the BMR but it is 1,238. It's about the same. I will research on the sodium tonight... How much more should I be eating? Do you mean to keep the calorie as is but increase the amount of food?

    Sometimes sodium can make people retain water :( Well I guess the BMR is pretty close. MFP said that I should eat 1200 calories but my BMR is 1430. So I usually eat 1350 and eat back most of my exercise calories. So if you eat 1200 and exercise just try to hit the number it says you should eat. I would give it a week or so eating like that and see if you start losing. I couldn't eat just 1200. I love food and was always hungry and more likely to go over if I tried to restrict myself too much. It's amazing how much more full I can feel by just 150 more calories.

    Don't be too discouraged. It's all about trial and error and finding out what works for you. You're doing the right thing by asking for opinions. Keep up the great work.

    I will try for one more week and see how it will go...! And it's always nice and very encouraging to know that you've lost 58 lb already!
    I will do my best and will let you know how much I would loose next week. Thanks again for all your help!! :heart:

    No problem :flowerforyou: I hope you see a loss :happy: I've lost 58 pounds on MFP and 74 total. I've had to do some tweaking to my calories before so I know the struggle that comes along with that.

    I will say that my weight loss pattern is up and down all the time, but if I look at the overall pattern long term, I can see the loss. Also hormonal/cycle things can mess up weight loss. Sometimes you'll lose a bunch of weight in one part of the month and gain some in another part. Argh.

    You are so right. Overall, I am still slowly loosing.... I should look at that, not the daily weight changes!
  • I know your frustration. I was losing about 1 pound a week, then suddenly this week I have gained 5 pounds. I have been making sure I don't go over calories-fat-etc and been exercising sometimes 3 times a day. Frustrating indeed!
