Adult Powerlifting

I am wondering if anybody knows how I can get into power-lifting on the adult level, I am not going to go as far as to say professional level. I did power-lift in High School and it is something I am interested in getting into as an adult. I have been searching around online, but I have not had much luck in finding anything other than high school meets. If anybody has any information that would be great.

Where are you from and are you looking to compete?
I'm from the UK. I want to compete in the future so I've heard of GBPF (great british powerlifting federation) and they hold comps all over the place. I'm sorry I don't have any useful info for the US if that's where your from.
Apart from that, your best bet would be to find a gym close by that is particularly for powerlifters/weightlifters/bodybuilders. You won't find it hard to find out about meets and things while there, as there's bound to be "somebody" that knows all about it0 -
Unless you are going pro, you can powerlift at any gym. There are special gyms dedicated to power lifting, but any place with a rack can be used. I would look up how to powerlift and do the exercises at low weight first off.
http://www.dieselsc.com/ is a great place to see how all the major lifts are done and done correctly. Otherwise, if you powerlifted in HS, I can say that it has not changed a whole lot, save how you eat and a variety of different ways to do an exercise in the powerlifting catagory0 -
check with you local gym...0

If you want to compete look at one of the main organizations sites for power lifting. There is several of them and it just kind of depends on what area you live in for which one is more popular in that area. PM me with your state and I can direct you towards the one that is larger in your area.0

If you're in East Lansing, try contacting the MSU strength and conditioning coaches.. also, I have found that CfossFit incorporates a LOT of heavy lifting into their workouts.. could be a *fun* place to start?!0

I hope she wasn't being serious.
I'd love to do power lifting too, but the only strong life I have is deadlift since I have freakishly long arms and legs (so squat and bench sucks). They have adult power lifting leagues if you live in a larger metro area, but make sure you try to find a drug free league if you want to be competitive.0 -

I have long arms too, 6'6" tip to tip, orangutan arms. I had a pretty good bench back 10 years ago. 505 lbs raw, I used a wide grip. Squats were wide stance and kept bar low on the shoulders. I'm 6'3", Hey c'mon us Georgia guys can handle it thefuzz.0 -

What state are you from? I plan on competing in my first powerlifting meet sometime this year. There's a bunch of different federations that you could try. Try going on powerliftingwatch.com0
