Ohhhhkay. SO last weekend my husband & I had a mini-vacation and after coming back I was really...um..."irregular" so instead of taking a laxative (was talked out of it by ppl on here) so I went another route & bought some fiber one bars. Okay, so not only did they not help, but they gave me a GIANT basketball size gas bubble in my tummy :indifferent: I can feel and hear the giant gas bubble trapped in there...it sounds like a fiber-monster. Ugh - this is terrible :ohwell: I do NOT reccommend these bars - unless you like feeling like you swallowed a hot air balloon.

Anybody else have this experience??

no, i really like them, but like the Kellogs Fiber Plus bars even better. I wonder if you are just too sensitive to having too much fiber at once?

Me AND a friend of mine have had this from those bars! MONDO gas, loud but not deadly if that helps!

You might be too sensitive to too much too fast.

Drink lots of water, you won't always feel like that after eating one.

Fiber One bars give just about everyone horrible gas. I make sure not to eat them if I know I will be around people in the next 12-24 hours

    Hope you feel better soon!

I've never had an issue. How much fiber do you eat a day? Women are supposed to eat at least 25 grams a day. If you're not used to eating that much...it'll give to gas.

They do make me gassy, but not too bad. I've heard if you're body gets use to intaking tons of fiber, it'll get use to it and the gas will go away.

Nope Fiber One Bars are AWESOME, I have one every day. Judymari is right, maybe your system is sensitive? Have you considered talking to a doctor yet? Might be worth trying. It could also be something you are or aren't eating....are you getting enough fruit and such? I hope you get better soon, I've been there and it's NO FUN!!! :flowerforyou:

I don't know I eat enough fiber most days I'm over, and these things STILL can make me gas it up!

I eat one every day. I peeked at your food diary and see you've been eating 2 a day. That may be way too much fiber too fast for you. I never have problems but I always eat alot of fiber. You have to ease in to upping your fiber grams daily . Good luck- Cindy

yea, not deadly, just serious air build up. my husband thinks is hilarious - i think its uncomfortable! I have never made a concious effort to eat fiber before, so maybe that's why? I've never had a reason to, guess that's why I've never noticed the side effects.

ETA - they're SO yummy!!! yeah, I had 2 yesterday & saturday, I've not eaten the 2nd one today, I was anticipating eating it, but not now. lol

EATA- my diary tanked from Friday til today. I've nto eaten well at ALL. that's prob another reason. :noway: that would be my fault. grrr

I had the same exact thing happen.....and I COULD NOT GO to the bathroom ( I know that too much information...but really it was the worst ever!) I was sooo uncomfortable the whole day....through the whole box out!

Oh wow if you're starting with two that could definitely be a reason lol!!! Try just having one a day, or even every other day. I've been eating them for awhile now but I still keep it to 1. I'm naturally super gassy, so why up it even more? It IS pretty funny though, but I have a male's sense of humor

OH YA, know the feeling! I had to promise my husband NEVER to buy them again, because of just how awful gassy I'd get about 5 hours later! It's too bad too, cuz I LOVED them, and they were nice and filling. But after making him suffer for months of me eating one almost every day, I finally gave in and stopped.

I think it's just 'too much, too soon.' I LOVE those Fiber One bars - two a day used to be my brekkie of choice, until I got bored of the same old thing every day. GREAT way to get your daily fiber intake and that will help you feel full and lose weight.

But if you dramatically bulk up on your daily fiber intake (or do the opposite) your digestion will complain for a few days!

I know that I get too gassy after two in one day. So I stay with just one a day. I would definetly suggest a doctor if it does not come out soon.
I would definetly knock it down to one a day.

I JUST returned from talking to my doctor about this very issue and my 15 year old, who is obessed with fiber. He said water, water, water and a slow build up. My dd had went from not keeping track to trying to get 40 g per day!!! Crazy girl! She didn't tell me until after the damage was done. Our doctor said a gradual increas and LOTS of water, which is pretty much what everyone else is saying. Hope this helps. I personally don't eat processed stuff, so I have never had one but giving these to my teenagers is better than them grabbing something at the gas station on the way to the gym, which is what they do because everything has to be "fast".

Fiber One Bars do the exact same thing to me too. I find that instead of the fiber bars etc two teaspoons of benefiber in my morning tea gets things moving everytime  That or a Starbucks hot chocolate with skim milk and no whip

They have made me gassy too. I like Balance Bars or Cliff Organic bars. They seem to give me a lot of energy.

They did that to me for about a month when I first started eating them! Of course, it gradually decreased over that month... then it was gone all together and I LOVE Fiber One bars!! They *really* help in that area. :blushing:  Not to mention they make you feel full and they're very yummy!! Once your irritable belly calms down, try eating one a day for a month and it'll stop! :flowerforyou:

I got gassy when I first tried them but it went away. It's just an adjustment because I'm sure I wasn't getting as much fiber as before.

    But now I'm fine.

just a question...how do you peek at someones food diary??

some people have their diaries set to public. Its an option under some tab on the homepage.
to see it, you click on the person's profile. it their diary is set to public, it will be one of the green buttons. mine's public so you can look to see what i'm talking about.
