Success is in the eye of the beholder

I was very hesitant in posting in this section since I'm not at my official goal weight. However I got to thinking why does getting to a certain goal number make you a success. My weight loss journey is very complex for me as it is tied to so much more than just weight.
I started in the low 300's -somewhere between 315-320 as I was too embarrassed to look at the scale when I started to now I'm in the mid 200's--260 as of yesterday's weight in.To the hope of find a love interest here has been dashed since I put my self out there I am not ashamed anymore of where I started and that I'm proud of my loss .My ticker may say 45 but I know it's more.. I am stronger, faster, and more able to do thing that I would never think I would do. I thought I was a prissy type but I have noticed when I'm in the gym I'm like a little beast. I have gotten to a point where I now am really focused on developing myself and growing. I laughed last night as it's getting to be warm in Texas that now I need to become a sugar baby since I don't have any spring and summer clothes anymore. I joked with myself and thought as I packed my spring and summer clothes away in Sept, man it would be funny if I couldn't wear any of these. Well the joke is on me because all are way too big.
I will leave with this. As we are all on different paths remember the simple success. That could be not drinking, not hitting the drive through, going to the gym after a *****y day at work, or simple taking care of yourself. All are successes in my book because it's when we put them all together we get the major success. I have to focus on my journey and not fret when I see people losing 100plus lbs in a short time frame. We are all on different tracks so rock your track out and motivate as you go. I hope to come back by the end of the year with even more success. You can look at my pics to see my transformation.

Have fun finding new summer clothes0 -
I agree. Different people view success differently. For me, success is not only losing weight and fitting into smaller jeans - but it is also avoiding the illnesses that tend to plague my family. Most of them start to show up in your mid 30's and well, I'm in my mid 30's. I've had blood work and other tests done and I'm happy to say that all are "excellent". So, not only have I lost weight and can fit into smaller jeans, but I'm also healthy.
I feel like people often judge others when they feel their success isn't what they think it should be. I've been judged because I'm at the higher end of my ideal weight and people think I have just plain given up and should fight harder to be thinner. Thing is? I'm happy at this weight. I'm comfortable and content where I am. In my eyes, I AM successful - even if someone else doesn't think I am.0 -
I'm with you on the 'no clothes to wear bandwagon'. I've had to give pretty much everything away. I have about 2 pairs of capris, 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of dress pants & really 3 shirts that fit. It's exciting, but it sucks having to shell out money again!
My shoes don't even fit anymore.
Congrats on your weight loss!!!0 -

Congratulations! I think you've got amazing perspective and it sounds like you've gained a lot in other areas while you've lost weight. That's worth more than losing twice as much and having a horrible attitude or not being able to feel good about yourself. And!! You get to go out and buy some nice summer clothes. Have fun with that!0
