If you just had a baby and were by yourself what kind of things would you need help with the most?

My neighbor, who is also a good friend just had a baby and her boyfriend is working all the time since she is off. I mowed her yard for her today but when I ask if there is anything else she needs done she just says, "oh no I couldn't ask you to do anymore for me, you've helped so much." I'm not trying to be intrusive but I know as a single mom myself you need help and with him working doubles she's pretty much doing things on her own right now. I wasn't ever single with an infant and it's been a LONG time, so is there anything you can think of that I could do to help her out?

I've told my boys on trash day to make sure her cart is at the curb, and I've taken over a couple of meals too.

I had 2 c-sections, and I had alot of difficulty with housework and laundry for the 2 weeks following delivery. I also had two dogs, and I would have loved for someone else to walk them for me. I would have loved help with my first excursions to the store as well...snow shoveling or lawn mowing (depending on the weather). I don't ask for help well, so I just did it...I am married, and my husband stayed home for a week cooking and such. Maybe a short term cleaning service until she gets used to her new normal?

tell her you will watch the baby while she goes to get a pedicure or get her hair done. possibly even to take a nap. thats what I would want.

I was on my own with two and grocery shopping can be really hard, if shes willing to give you a list and the cash. Also having someone drop in and watch the baby while she has a nap can be really helpful. sleep is a beautiful thing. I also didnt like putting people out but having someone drop in and make me a coffee then do the vacuuming while I fed was really great.

Good luck to her. sounds like she has a fantastic neighbour.
