REMEMBERING ST. PATRICK, DUBLIN, cir 400AD; "...When the people of Dublin, having heard of the great signs and miracles that were done through Patrick, saw that he was coming to that village, went out to meet him. The kings only son, called Eochadh had died a death from sickness , in his bedroom. (Also), the king's daughter, and a sister to the young prince, had just been drowned, in the river Liffey the very same week.

The king, greatly distressed, hearing of St. Patrick's arrival, greatly rejoiced, and caused him to come in, where his two children lay dead. He then promised, with all those present, if God restored his children to life, that he and all the citizens would become Christians...(Patrick said if God did this for them, they should serve his God, and that he would pray in the name of Jesus),

Patrick then raised from death to life those princely children, whose bodily resurrection deeply affected the king and caused the spiritual resurrection of their father, with the rest of his people.

The king and all his subjects, being astonished at this great miracle, turned away from the worship of idols. The king dismissed the druid wizards who he had held in great esteem before, and they all were baptized in the well (spring). From that day the King and all the people worshipped the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I posted a great bio piece on him earlier on Facebook that was written by Mark Driscoll. Too bad we have lost the real meaning behind so many of our holidays.

WHAT?????? ST. PATRICKS DAY IS NOT ABOUT GREEN AND BEER????? *shocked*!!! Thanks for spreading the word, Im sure a lot of people had no idea St. Patrick was actually a person before a holiday! Did you know their are more people in the U.S that claim to be Irish, then there are people in Ireland! Crazy.
  • wow...so, why in the heck does everyone do the drunken celebration then? that's kinda sad that such an esteemed event is memorialized by leprechauns & booze. :/
