Hey, it's my first time starting p90x tomorrow...kind of nervous, and hope that I can stick with it. Not in terrible shape now, but I know it's going to be brutal! Any words of advice for a newbie???

  • First of all, congratulations for trying it. You're right...it is going to be tough, but you CAN do it. Here's a couple of things to remember to keep you on track:

    1. Week 1 is the worst. You may think you can't do it, but stick with it and don't quit. It does get easier.
    2. If you can't do all the exercises exactly like Tony does, modify them to meet your fitness level. You'll hear Tony say this a lot throughout the DVDs, and there's truth to what he says. The last thing you want to do is push yourself too fast and get hurt.
    3. This really should be number 1 in terms of importance, but STICK WITH THE NUTRITION PLAN. You hear people say it, but it's true that the nutrition part of this is at least half the battle. If you don't, you're going to work your butt off, and you won't see the results that you could and should.
    4. Go all out. Since you're doing this, I probably don't have to say it, but the last thing you want to do is jump into a program like this and put forth half effort. The only way this this program won't work is if YOU don't work the program.

    Good luck!

I just started this a few days ago. I am on day 4 today. The first day was definitely the hardest! I made me almost scared to do day two. but, I did it and I'm glad I did!!!! I found day 2 to be WAY easier than day 1. Even yesterday I had a hard time pushing myself to get in day 3, I procrastinated until about 1130pm. After I did it I felt awesome! a little sore, but super awesome. I think pittman98 has some great advice. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! If you think about skipping a day or giving up, think about how happy you will be if you stick with it! :)
  • I lost 40lbs doing P90x and gained double or maybe triple the amount of muscle. It's true when a beachbody coach tells you its 30% workouts and 70% diet. Protien, Carbs ect should all be measured. Remember though it's a mass production workout DVD's so it wasn't specifically made for you. So adjust to your needs, and you will learn to trust Tony. Have fun with it and keep pressing play
