water is more appealing

i have found that now that i am drinking more water, the taste of soda and other carbonated drinks are less appealing to me. i think i still have one can of soda a week, tops. more like a can every other week. since i started drinking more water, i crave that a lot more.

i can drink almost any type of water. bottled water, tap water, filtered water, room temperature, ice cold, flavored. by flavored, i mean i put some freshly squeezed lemon juice, or some lemon slices into it. sometimes i've put in some cucumber slices, but i prefer the lemon juice.

if i want something bubbly, i'll go for some seltzer or something.

and yeah, people that can't stand the taste of water... #firstworldproblems.

    mmm...plain, delicious water.

I don't drink soda anymore...unless it's mixed with gin. or vodka. Whatever's on hand...

seriously... i want people at resutrants to start turning away food, like "was this rice boiled in water? then no thank you, i don't like water."

the waiters would make sure their next batch of rice was boiled in a slightly different liquid.

likely whatever ever liquid was in it would still contain water?
Not sure why some people have an issue with others not liking to drink plain water! Can't really argue that someone should like something when they don't.
  • I'm the same way. My family never bought soda but whenever I went to a relatives I would down can after can. Now that I've become accustomed to water, whenever I have a sip of a carbonated beverage it feels really weird, and actually somewhat difficult to swallow.

I agree! Other than my coffee or tea I rarely drink anything other than water! Or milk in a protein shake!

it makes me want to bang my face into a wall when people say they "can't" drink water. oh really, you can't? probably you should see a doctor. maybe they can set you up with a rolling IV of fluids.

Why is it silly, if it's true?

I don't like it, so i never drink it. There is no need to drink it. I just get my hydration from other sources, tea and coffee mainly, but also fruit and soda when i fancy it.

The other day I bought some Dr.Pepper, I was SOOO excited, then I got home and took a drink and it was not at all how I remembered it. It's actually still in the fridge. lol

I'll stick to water and a cup of coffee.

Possibly very true. I get close to being physically sick when I drink plain water. It actually took me a long time to drink flavoured water, which I've been doing for about three weeks now, because as much as I'd love to live off plain water there's something about it I can't handle.

Mostly, it's the 'texture' (hard to describe to someone who doesn't get it). Water has a certain, slick texture to it that brings on that sick feeling. That's added to its horrible taste, and the two combined make me ill.

I had to force myself for multiple years to be able to handle flavoured water. It has the same texture, even though the flavour is better, and that texture continued to make me feel ill. I'm over that now with flavoured water (specifically when drinking from a bottle with the sports top - I still can't have it from an open bottle or glass), and only drink flavoured water, but still can't have it plain. As such, I'm paying £10 a week just for drinks, when I could be getting them free. Additionally, when I'm not at home (visits to a friend's house, or the pub), I'm having to go back to diet soda when I'd prefer not to.

I'm picky about my water - I can't do it out of a tap unless it's well-water, but I *love* water and have to agree that sodas and things like that are a lot less appealing now than before I started drinking plenty of water.
Nothing else is nearly as refreshing.

Also, room temperature is my favorite way to drink it.

    HI,

    I don't like water either...its like....'wet air' lol!!

I have to put notes in my phone calendar to send me alerts throughout the day. The thing is< I'm not a big drinker of anything! Maybe sweet tea back in the day. But I can go long periods w/out drinking anything.

My friend told me about 'Mio Liquid' , next to Crystal lite powder mix. I love the orange, it tastes like orange popsicle. It has zero calories, carbs or sugars. That helps me get it in!! I tend to drink alot during my workouts and after a bit meal. Or when I do drink water I guzzle it to knock out large amounts at a time!

Its essential -as we all know, especially if you are working out and don't want to pull muscles, or pass out on the treadmill for that matter (not a good look). It's oxygen for our body and blood! Just gotta do it!!

    CHEERS!!

I stopped drinking soda because the artificial sweetness altered my tastebuds and would make me crave unhealthy food. A few weeks after I stopped, I had a Diet Coke and it made me feel terribly sick. Bloated and just... gross. So now I don't drink it at all! Milk and water are my go-to beverages. (And Muscle Milk lol). But I definitely agree!

Oh! And I LOVE tea. I like to make that in the evenings most days... usually Earl Grey or Irish Breakfast. And I recently fell in love with Chai, which is awesome to add milk to. (And it's a good substitute for coffee since I gave that up for Lent. Sadface.)
