Hey! As i was out on my jog this afternoon with a friend, we got stopped by a qualified karate instructor, and she asked us if were interested in starting karate ever thursday evenings! My friend was like yeaaaah ill do it! And then I just said yeah because I didnt want to leave my friend to go on her own.
Ive just been looking at videos on youtube of the beginner and everything and the coloured belts and all that! And it does look like fun, But i am quite scared of starting it just incase something kicks me in the face or something?! =/
Just wondering, is anyone on here currently doing karate lessons? If sooo, is it good fun? Has it helped you to loose weight and tone up? What are your thoughts on it?
Thanks in advanced x

Just have a go, there's a very good chance you'll enjoy it.
It's very unlikely you'll get kicked in the face, or ever be in a fight.
You will definitely never be in a fight if you don't want to be.
You've nothing to lose, except and hour or two of your time.0 -
The great thing about martial arts is the self discipline. If anything you get to learn about how disciplined you can be with yourself. Not to mention that if done correctly, you can get a good physical activity to count on weekly.

Karate is excellent exercise! Go for it!
The best exercise is the one YOU enjoy and will KEEP DOING!0 -
try judo, jujitsu or mui tai instead.
judo+jujitsu= so much core/leg training!
mui tai= you will throw up your first practice. its so intense that its awesome.
boxing is fun too. great work out. a lot of celebs/models get in shape by boxing.
i dont like karate personally for exercise. its not high intensity enough. i like training enviorment over a teaching enviorment when it comes to martial arts.0 -
capoeira is also nice as well. it's so pretty to play and besides that the Brazilians you learn from are always loads of fun.0
