Okay, guys who are reading this I'm going to warn you its not pretty and you may not want to read on.... Fairly warned. :-)

Okay... So here is my problem...I've been dieting and sticking to around 1200 calories... If I exercise I eat most of my calories back... I've been eating healthy for a while... I used to do medifast and it destroyed my metabolism, my hair started falling out, and I started having a period every 2 weeks... WELL...I've noticed since beginning to exercise regularly again, my hair is starting to fall out again, and I'm beginning to have my period more frequently than I should... Anybody have this going on? Anyone have any clue what the problem could be? At this point I'm getting concerned... My thyroid was checked and level came back normal...

The only time i noticed my hair falling out was when I did low carb a few years ago and dropped weight really quickly. Also, after I gave birth this happened. The period thing would bother me too. Have you had your hormones checked?

Seems to me period would be hormone related. Maybe something going on in your uterus that the extra exercise is making it do this? Of course, I tend to be suspicious of my uterus since it turned to the dark side and spent years tormenting me with pain and bleeding until I eventually had it taken out. I think a trip to the gyn is in order.

I would contact your gyn. Diet shouldn't be affecting your period that much. If you are bleeding that much, be sure you are getting enough iron or anemia is sure to set in.

    This ^^

also with the hair issue. I don't think you are eating enough. This is what causes hair loss. Lack of adequate protein and fats as well

Have you ever been checked for PCOS - Polycystic ovarian syndrome? Those are common symptoms with that. I would check with your doctor.
  • What birth control are you using? IUD could be aggravated by the exercise? What other stressors do you have going on? My daughter has always had less that desirable occurrences with her cycle, and stress plays a big part.

Not eating enough fat can result in hair loss. If that's not it I would recommend getting your hormone levels checked.

I was thinking this too! I have PCOS and it sounds like it may be the culprit.

These are also some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Go to your doctor to check it out.
  • Thank you everyone for your feedback... I had my thyroid checked and it was normal... I'm not taking any birth control, so that isn't it... And I've never been checked for PCOS....
