I do really well with MFP when I am at home or when I am at Uni as I use the scanner to track what I have eaten. When I go out, to the fella's for the weekend for example, I eat non-stop take away's.
I know treats every now and then are important. But doing this erases the good work in between.
I am looking for friends who will really help keep me motivated and on track, and vice versa.

Have a cheat day every weekend or within 10 days, eat whatever you feel like that day. But be very strict everyday and look forward to the cheat day as a reward. This has worked for me, good luck!0

I think that you are not talking of a cheat day but of really over-doing it on the weekends. I do the same thing. The week is easy for me as I am at work or at the gym. But, come the weekend, when I have unlimited access to junk food, then I blow it.
Is this what you are finding? You lose weight during the week and then gain it on the weekend? Then it takes about three days to lose those weekend pounds? By that time the weekend is approaching? Most of the weekend gain is water. Come Monday start drinking more water, lay off the salt and get back to eating healthy.0 -
I always used cheat days and rewards in my unsuccessfull attempts at dieting before, but I personally found that once I started I could not stop. My cheat days or rewards always ended up being the end of my diets. I think it has a lot to do with my personaility type, I am an all or nothing kind of girl. This time around, I am trying to make the healthiest choice possible in every situation. For example, when my family went out for ice cream the other night, I made my husband take me up the road to TCBY and had a small portion. Preparation is also key, I always have a fiber one bar in my purse for emergencies. I saw this awesome little bumper sticker that said, You are not a dog, do not reward yourself with food. LOL ... this spoke a lot to me. My reward will be reaching my goal weight and I am trying to focus on that! But I sooooo understand how you feel! Good luck, and I am sending you a friend add!0

I'm like this, one cheat leads to another, and then another, and another. Until I'm back to where I started and saying things like ' I don't know why I'm not losing weight, I'm being ever so good!'.
This time round I think I have finally realised that I need to keep healthy for the rest of my life. I'll eat things that are bad for me, I've got no doubt of that, but I keep track of it. This time the difference is that I don't have a short term goal so that I can go back to eating 'normal food', this is forever and I'm ok with that.
Keeping a log every day, of absolutely everything really keeps me in check, even if I've eaten crap I can see it and I understand the effect it's having0
