Heart Rate Monitor Confusion

I have borrowed a garmin forerunner 305 from my mother in order to see how many calories I am buring while doing P90X, so that I can accurately record the information. However, the day I did Kenpo, it is saying I only burned 130 calories in an hour. Now granted, I don't agree with MFP saying I burned 800+ calories (I log it as kickboxing). I went on the garmin forum, and they actually are saying that HRM cannot accurately figure out how many calories burned. I am incredibly confused -- is it because my HRM is for running?

My HRM doesn't do calories, it just keeps my heart rate. There are many sites that have calculators that will tell you how many calories burned if you just glance on occasion and average out your heart rate. For instance today, I did 45 minutes/3 miles, my average hr was 160. I punch my numbers in, and I got 420ish calories burned. If I went by MFP it would of been down in the 200's. MFP doesn't know my fitness level.
These are the two sites I use to calculate.

Thank you! I just need something that will give me a GOOD rough estimate of how many calories I am burning. I play tennis 6 days a week and do P90X as well, and I fear that my 1500ish calories a day might actually be too few. According to MFP, I burned nearly 7,000 calories last week, and I just don't know if that's right. I will look at those sites and wear my HRM to gauge. Thanks!0
