Notes/Images around the house?

Last night, I made some decisions to turn up the heat on myself. It's really going to take some discipline and hard work to hit my goal. I think it's doable, but it's very hard.

So, in order to help myself, I was thinking about leaving notes around the house for myself. Maybe some sticky notes here and there, and hang up some images to remind me all the time. Especially in the kitchen.

Does anyone do this? Or is it stupid?

When people come over, do you run around and take them down?

Just wondering if others do this and how you handle company?

Thanks

DW and I own a graphics company and we have done our favorite motivational quotes around the house in Vinyl. I'll post some pics here when I get home. This type of thing is great because it looks really nice and can be worked into almost any decor options. So no need to feel self conscious about them when people come over.

If you are interested and there isn't anyone in your area, send me a message and I can get you prices.

I have a picture in my car that motivates me to drive passed the fast food restaurants. I also have a picture in my room to keep me motivated. I think notes might be a great idea. Like one on the fridge saying "Don't even think about it".

Thanks, I'm somewhat of a self-made graphics expert myself. I'd love to see what you've created so I could steal the idea. Or, maybe it would prompt an idea that would fit in with my "decor", whatever that is.

Actually, my decor is no decor. Very simple, clean, ...as much nothingness as possible. I don't like things on the walls, or furniture or anything. Just plain and simple. If I could not have furniture, I would be in heaven...maybe literally, right? Anyways, that's why I'm wondering how I could work it in somehow. i was just thinking sticky notes on the fridge and bathroom mirror and stuff like that.

I was also thinking about making notes, and putting them in jack pockets and pants pockets and things like that. Just little reminders when I'm out and about.

I have a picture from 2 years ago taped to my bathroom mirror. It's me at the largest I've been (probably the only picture I took at that weight)

Look at it everyday, works best for those days when I need motivation to get my *kitten* to the gym

I think thats a great idea! I have pictures all over my house of me before losing weight to motivate me to work as hard as I can. Keeping little notes and pictures around you at all times can really help out by reminding you of why you are doing this!

I put a side by side pic of my before and during weight loss on my fridge. If I feel like snacking when I am not really hungry, I see that pic staring back at me to remind me of where I was and where I am now. It helps a lot.

I made a "focus board" for my workout room! It's images of what I used to look like...good and bad, what I want to look like and phrases and/or graphics that are motivational to me!

I have dry erase markers and I write all over pictures and mirrors with them. On the fridge I have a dry erase board, on it it says "Take Controll" and also "Be the Change" I have "I love you" on a pic of my Mom and my son and various other things. They're easily wiped off any glass with a paper towel or sponge and I change them all the saying all the time.

I say go for it, what's it gonna hurt?

I do this, I have my weight loss chart on my refrigerator with my goal line so I think twice before eating the unhealthy snack or loading up on chips and salsa. I also have a mortivation quote on my bathroom mirror so I remind myself every day that I can do this.

I have pictures in my office, on my phone, taped to the mirror in my gym at home. These are all celebrites whom I will probably never look like but they inspire me not to eat bad and to workout harder. They help me!!

I actually hung my vision board smack dab in the middle of the kitchen wall because it wasn't doing me any good leaning up against the wall on the floor in the bedroom out of sight. It has motivational quotes on it, inspirational "before" and "after" pictures, my list of personal goals for this year, and my monthly workout calendar.

Like you, I've been wanting lately to up the ante and put some stuff around the house. Like on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror, etc. My fiance, thankfully, is extremely supportive and doesn't make fun of anything I try to do to be healthier.

It doesn't matter what you do to motivate you!! Whatever works is best for you. We all have our own ways of motivation...mine is my kids. I lost my mother-in-law in January and she was only 63. This was motivation for me to say to myself that I want to be around for a very long, long, long time to see my kids grow up, see their kids, and possibly great-grandkids. So mine starts with thinking of my mother-in-law and then I add my kids and I see them everyday, so they are my motivation. It is not silly to leave yourself notes...if it works...keep doing it!!
