It's Working :)

Hi! My name is Pedro Girl, and I use that term loosley, because I'm 68 yrs old!
I just joined MFP a couple weeks ago, and it's really helping me to be accountable. Im pretty much an emotional eater, sort of a zombie/robot eater, too. So, knowing I'm going to log what I've eaten is really helping me. I need to lose 20 lbs or so, and have desperately tried for about 4 years. Ive had no success, only frustration. For me to even lose 1 pound has been impossible, and leads to depression. I can just think about food, and gain weight!
Until I read some of these posts, I was so hard on myself. But with all of my health issues, Im realizing why it's so difficult for me to lose even 1 pound! I have hepatitis c, hashimoto's disease, and have been on beta blockers for 18 years for my heart and blood pressure. All of these issues are energy robbers! Plus the past year or so I've had more difficulty walking, due to recurring fractures in my feet and arthritis, so I get very little exercise. I do the best I can and am still working, but pain has become an unwelcome companion for sure.
Now, the good news: I've already lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks!! MFP is such an encouragement to me, like my own personal coach! Everyday I look forward to seeing how little I can eat, and not be sad about it. I really want to eat cheesecake right now (Im such a food addict!)...but...I WANT to succeed in this. I really believe it will work for me, but I dont feel like Im doing it all alone. Woohoo!!
For those of you who are struggling, dont give up...it will work...and it will be SO worth it!!

Good job, keep it up. Loggin what i eat really helps me question if i'm really hungry or just thirst, bored, stressing, etc.0

Thanks, obum88! When I want to eat something now, I think about it before I eat it. I dont want to waste my calories on something that's not worth it.0

Love it. So glad you are here. I was always wondering why I wasn't losing weight even though I was working out. Then I discovered MFP and started logging calories. Oooooh THAT'S why. So enlightening. I even log when I've really overdone it. Accountability seems to be the key. Good luck on your path. Be well.0
