Day One... this is me ;)

Nearing the end of my first day using MFP.. not so bad. I have been in an 'on again, off again' relationship with WW for the better part of 18 years. Although I believe it to be a good program -- I really had become very complacent about it. After discovering other weight loss/activity log apps/websites - I realized that I had become completely ignorant about calories! So here I am, points free
I've discovered that looking at the 'value' of food in a different way really helps to bring you back to square 1!
I'm 41 - and I have really been fighting to find the motivation to shed about 35lbs. I had put on a fair amount of weight after my pregnancy, even though EVERYONE told me that breast feeding would melt away those lbs (liars - LOL, oh and my daughter is now 7 BTW!), Apparently that doesn't work if you continue to eat french fries
I've always tried to find an activity that I truly enjoyed, with no luck. I just could not get into the gym scene - for me it was a difficult habit to develop and maintain! So, about 18 mos ago as I faced being in the first year of my 40s. I realized I had to really go outside my comfort zone to shake things up a bit to get this weight off for good. So I signed up for a "Learn to Run" program. I wasn't sure what to expect...but I discovered that I LOVE running! Because running burns a lot of energy, I found that I had become very 'liberal' with my eating habits and therefore did not lose a lot of weight (I didn't gain it either) From all I've read, this is a common complaint for people who take up running for weight loss! Anyway...it's too late to make a long story short...but I've now got several 5Ks, a 1/2 Marathon and a 10K race under my belt. Now that I have good fitness habits... and I will continue to run... it's time for me to start focusing on using food for what it's meant - fuel for your body to run efficiently and healthy! I want to be running for many many many more years
