Exercise/workout suggestions?

So I've hit the point where I'm pretty happy with the number on the scale. I'm down 15lbs done only through paying attention to what I'm eating. However now I'm only a slightly smaller version of what I was. I'm still squishy.
What's the best exercise or workout to now shape up my body? No gym membership, I have to be able to do it at home, but I have some basic weights and an elliptical. I've been reading that just cardio probably isn't the best for my goals now, but I know nothing about strength training.
Any tips/suggestions/links/etc? Thanks!

First off, congrats on your great progress!
Elliptical is a great way to shape up your core (I do it on my ab days) and most people will agree.
When I did't have access to a gym, I do A LOT of circuit training and it helped me shape up and lose bf starting out: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=circuit+training
Weight/strength training is the other option, bodybuilding.com has some great workout programs you could look at just to get an idea for your goals.
My opinion on cardio: it's only good when you want to lose body fat, you really don't have to do it if you're in tune with your diet. I tend to do it after my weight training just to adjust to my daily diet.
Hope this helps, good luck!0 -
if you're looking for good workouts to do at home - try youtube! serioulsy, i find great routines and exercises all the time. I've been doing yoga routines since about december and i feel like its really done a lot for my core and my arms/shoulders. youtube 'tara stiles' and you'll get a bunch of great stuff to try, she has a lot of poses/routines for building strength and toning up.0

I think a little of everything is a great choice. I do cardio, I take yoga, I go to zumba, I just started running and I go to a cardio pump class that incorporates weight and fat burning. I am trying to widen my horizons and try things I havent done. I went biking today, I plan on trying the roller blades again........just keep moving and find what is fun and you will do it more!0

I started using the workouts on www.gainfitness.com
I really like them. Some of them have left me lying on the floor in the fetal position. LMAO.0 -
I really like Jillian Michaels dvds. They give you a really good work out in a short amount of time. She combines cardio and strength training. And they are under $10 or you can find time on Youtube too! With my heart rate monitor I burn apx. 280-300 with Ripped in 30 and 210-220 with 30 Day Shred.0

I am in better shape now than in my 20's and I don't use a gym. I have a few Jillian Michaels dvd's and I started running about a year ago and run 3 miles about 4 times a week. I love Jillin'S DVDs because they are either 30 or 40 minutes so I get a lot of bang for my time. I have a ton more muscle tone than I had in my 20's. My high school students are amazed at this old lady!0
