Need some motivational words right now ..

Had a bit of a setback :( I had 700+ calories left so I ate a banana. Then I ate a carrot slice. I couldn't find the calories for it ANYWHERE. I even called them up, but they said they'll get back to me tomorrow. Then I ate three chocolate and nut bars AND two chocolate banana chips.

It was scary. I felt out of control and scared. I went to bring my boyfriend some food and walking down the road, I just wanted to cry. I felt hopeless, like I can't do this.

I'm trying to stay positive, but I feel like my confidence has been knocked a little. My cals are still under my daily allowance (although I don't know how much cals the carrot cake was), but it's the lack of control and negative feelings that scared the bejeebers out of me.

Need some words of encouragement right now.

Someone on MFP once posted that this is a journey not a race. So do not beat yourself up! Just get back on track with the next meal. Drink some fluids sometimes hunger can be thirst in disguise. And you did a positive by getting away from it and walking. Maybe try to think of what the trigger was... true hunger, something emotional, or...?
    You can do it!

I've been on the weight loss/healthy weight roller coaster for years and it's finally taken me this long to realize that a day does not make a lifetime. So you had a setback, so what! The good news is the sun sets, you get to sleep off that day, and get up with the sun (or in my case the rain pelting the window) and realize you got a blank slate. A whole new canvass in which you can paint out how you want your day to be. It's the present moment that counts, you can't live in the past. Keep your sites set on your future goal and you will overcome the hiccups along the way. I agree its not a race! Its a journey. So smile, take a deep breath and know that you are not alone and that we are here to encourage you.

Thank you so, so much, guys <3

On a more positive note, I got three NSVs today, and me and hubby joined a 24hr gym that's just opened up five minutes down the road from me!

Uh, this may be off topic, but did you say you brought your boyfriend food and then said you and your hubby joined a gym together?

On topic: This is a long term thing, we have bad days and good days. Take them in stride, in the perspective of the larger picture. One bad day is not going to destroy all of your good work, just as one good day, alone, is not going to make you perfectly fit overnight either.

To quote the country band, Diamond Rio - We all fall down, it's the getting back up that really counts.

YOU can do this, you will do this and one moment in the day you had a setb ack the imp. thing is not to wait until tomorrow to get back in the saddle, but to get back in the saddle today and move forward, that way tomorrow you will be stronger.
  • it happens... just start fresh! you can do it by just saying I'm starting again... Tea helps me feel better after I eat too much or the wrong thing. It also helps soothe your emotions when you sip it and feel it's warmth.

I was going to say that at least you worked out by walking down the road, so that had to burn something, but now I am more interested in the answer to the below.

Haha, sorry it wasn't clear. I cooked fresh veggies and rice for us yesterday and I walked to his work to bring him his portion. Poor thing hadn't eaten all day and was waiting for me to finish work and bring him his lunch.

Then we chilled together and joined the gym online :)

And you're right. I'm not worried about ruining my work, physically, but moreso in the sense that I'm worried I'm going to do what I've done before - give up and go on a crazy, depressed binge.

    And thank you for replying!

    I answered! :D

And yeah, it did. I'm trying to keep moving as much as possible because my whole lower half is still wrecked from the squats I done 2 days ago.

Today has ended, so take a deep breath and calm down! To be able to fix tomorrow, take a good look at your diary. I did so and I would recommend the following: increase your protein (a lot!), aim for 100 g/day. If possible, decrease a little your carbs, aim for around 150 g. This can be achieved by changing some carby food for high-protein one. There are a lot of suggestions on the forum and you can definitely PM whenever you feel like it.

It's good that you're not starving yourself. But your sudden loss of control is mostly generated by what I mentioned above. I am sure that if you change your nutrition accordingly, these cravings/losses of control will diminish considerably.

Of course, they might not disappear, but we're only human! You need to learn how to forgive yourself and carry on with the healthy diet the next day.

Thank you so, so much. I know I need to reduce my carbs. Protein increase is a must too, as I'm a vegetarian.

Thanks so much for replying. I'm gonna add you!
