Since I'm always crunched on time I rely on the 30 minute meal cookbooks. And alot of them are pretty healthy too. Rachel Ray is great and she has alot of cookbooks. She's famous for all her different soups and creative grilling recipes. Hope this helps!! She has a website too www.rachelray.com

Have you tried The Most Decadent Diet Ever by Devin Alexander. She also wrote the Biggest Loser cookbooks.

I really enjoy the recipes from this book.

I've got 2 GREAT Cookbooks! They are Better Homes & Gardens New Dieters Cookbook (which is my fav cuz there are pics on EVERY recipe), and the other is the Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2008 (which is pretty good). I've got others, but these are the 2 that I always go back to. I'm learning a whole new way of cooking with these & I'm loving the results (taste wise...& weight wise, too). If you want to "test" them out, I review a recipe a week on my mfp blog.
    Check it out here:

there are some DELISH recipes already on there & I'll be adding some this week for shrimp kabobs & crab cakes!

    My favorites:

    More with Less
The Food you Crave - Ellie Krieger
The Art of French Cooking - Julia Child (a must for any serious foodie)
The New Cookbook / Better Homes & Gardens
Quick Fix Meals - Robin Miller (great when I'm short on time)
    The Joy Of Cooking

...and I keep a collection of vintage cookbooks (early 1900s era, 40s, etc.) for when I want to read the fundamentals or prepare truly basic or whole foods meals.

My favourite is a 2-in-1 cookbook from the Company's Coming series called Healthy Choices. It gives you all the nutritional info on every recipe and I have yet to make something I didn't like from that cookbook! It's currently on sale through the company's coming website for a whole 6.24!!! I paid $20 and thought it was worth it, so its definitely worth 6.24!!

I just bought "The New American Plate" cookbook from the American Institute for Cancer Research, after going to their site for a long time. You can sign up for Email Recipes if you want to test some of them out. Here is a blurb about the book:

    Behind the Recipes
Before you dive in, we'd like to let you in on a little secret: Behind each of these recipes, there is a whole new vision of the American diet, based on years of nutrition and cancer research. Here are the principles that guided our cookbook team in creating The New American Plate Cookbook.

    Portion Size
Simply put, Americans eat too much. And our health is suffering. Maintaining a healthy weight means controlling portion sizes. The recipes in The New American Plate Cookbook yield servings that may be a little smaller than you're used to. But they're full of delightful flavors, interesting textures and filling ingredients like vegetables, fruits and whole grains. So you can gradually adjust to eating less, and still feel satisfied at the end of a delicious meal.

    Proportion
Research tells us that the traditional "meat and potatoes" style of American cooking isn't the best for our health. We need less saturated fat and fewer calories than the traditional American plate offers. Your plate should hold 2/3 (or more) vegetables, fruits, whole grains or beans, and 1/3 (or less) meat, poultry, fish, or dairy. In The New American Plate Cookbook, you'll find 200 new recipes that help you follow this simple rule of thumb.

    Plant Foods
Behind The New American Plate Cookbook is a fascinating scientific story—one involving years of global research on diet, cancer and the role of plant compounds called phytochemicals. The bottom line? A heap of evidence indicates that a diet rich in vegetables and fruits reduces cancer risk. It is also a powerful tool for managing your weight. The recipes in this cookbook showcase hundreds of creative ways to slip more plant foods onto your plate.
  • Cookbooks are great, especially if you find some that don't require too many complicating ingredients and such. A great place to look (rather than bookstores and buying new which can be expensive) is to go to used book stores, or flea markets and garage sales. I mean, even if books are outdated, the good recipes never get old!

I also keep like a blank page notebook full of healthy recipes that I snip out from magazines, newspapers, and online.

And if all else fails, I say google it! There are so many great (free!) recipes available all over the internet. Try them out, and if it works and you love it, print it out and add it to a page in a notebook and make a collection of your favorites. They're sure to be visited again and again.

You can print all the free recipes you want from foodnetwork.com. You can even set up a free account, save, and "file" your recipes. This way you get all the ones you want and it's free!

As for real books, I LOVE Eating for Life by Bill Phillips and the Biggest Loser cookbooks.

A lot of people love the Hungry Girl cookbooks too.

    Hi,
    My two favorites:

Sundays at Moosewood (very time consuming recipes, but you said you love to cook...delicious and healthy food)

Prevention's Flatbelly Diet Cookbook (I don't buy into the flat belly thing, but these recipes are great!)

    Bon apetit! Buen Provecho!
