No Impact Exercise

I just got back to the gym after being out for two weeks due to a minor outpatient surgery to fix a minor health issue. I started back to my normal routine with Tae Kwon Do and now my foot doctor tells me I have to do no impact exercises. I have plantars fasciitis. My doctor agrees that is was most likely high impact workouts after being out of the gym for a few months because I was recovering after having a baby. I have always done Tae Kwon Do and gone to the gym with no problem. As soon as my foot heals my doctor says I can resume working out and Tae Kwon Do. Obviously I will not be doing high impact workouts! I am now looking for some no impact workouts to do so I can continue to stay healthy and loose weight. I still have 50 lbs left to go. I have purchased a bike and trailer to tote the kids behind me while I ride but I thought you guys might be able to give me more suggestions so I can have a verity or work outs to prevent a plateau.

    Swimming? The only one I know with the lowest impact! All that water really buffers the movements. And it's terrific exercise!
  • You could give swimming a go...that's relatively low impact!

    Swimming!! If you have access to a pool, it is a great way to work out. It is very low impact and you can still get your heart rate up. I usually take my son to the pool and get a few laps in between playing with him. It seems to work pretty well.

    Also, anything you can do that involves rowing. Some gyms have a rowing machine and it is actually a good source of cardio whiile toning the arms.

    Thank you, I contacted my gym and I can at least swim 1 day a week. I will ask my old personal trainer about workouts too.
