I writing to this message to anybody with words of encouragement! Somebody who is currently losing weight and has a lot to lose like me, please help motivate me! :-) Its day 2 and I'm already freaking about slipping up...

I don't have a lot left to lose, but I'e lost a fair bit already. And guess what? I've slipped up plenty of times!!! That doesn't mean I don't keep trying though. Sometimes it's 1 step forwards and two steps back, but a slip is just a slip, not a deal breaker. Do the best you can, make lots of small changes,and try not to change everything at once. You can do it. Sometimes you'll have to refresh your resolve, but it can be done! Don't give up yet!0

Hello, I do not have a lot to lose but I know about building a better healthy body and it takes doing something everyday. I was sick for 10 years and inactive. I started just going for a walk daily and replacing a meal with a healthy shakeology that gives you energy, helps with digestion, and full of vitamins. Do you have a fb or pinterest account? I would love to be friends on fb and I have many motivational tips. Just know you are human and today is a new day!0

You can do this!! The key is to never give up and always seek ways to boost your motivation. Plan you meals ahead and stick to your plans. Losing weight, like most things doesn't always happen in a smooth easy fashion. It goes in fits and spurts. You will have off days, especially if you have a long journey like 100 pounds.
The most recent part of my journey started about 3 years ago. That first year, I struggled all year and made no progress. The next year I lost 38 pounds, only to gain back 30 by the end of the year. Last year I took that remaining 8 pound deficit and lost another 52 pounds. Then I plateau'd and maintained for three months. By February of this year, I finally got things in gear again and I am back down another 14 pounds. The weight is now coming off at a nice rate. I would like to think that it's all downhill from here, but I know there will likely be further interruptions. But now that I am halfway to my goal of losing 150 pounds, I can see the end in sight and I know I will get there. I feel fantastic already.
Never give up. Just keep on plugging away. Days 2-5 can be the very hardest. Pretend it's day 59.0 -
Just remember that if you mess up...it doesn't have to be an all day thing, don't feel guilty, and tomorrow is a new day which means a fresh start! Stay strong and focused!0

Don't freak out about slipping up! If you out too much pressure on yourself to not mess up, when you do mess up, you are really going to take it hard. This could cause you to throw away any progress you make with emotional/stress eating. The best advice I can give is to take your healthy eating one day at a time and keep moving. If you make a mistake, keep going! Don't let the fat win, you are too important! We want you to be with us for a long time and we want you healthy!!!0

This is day 2 for me too. I need to lose at least 100 lbs. I have tried and given up many many times in the past. This time I am commiting to not giving up....as in I will keep weighing in and logging what I eat and my exercising even when I am messing up. So the period of messing up will only be a few days instead of a few years.
It is nice to know someone who is just starting and has a lot to lose too. I hope we can incourage each other to keep going.
Edit* I see it says I joined June 2011 and I did. I came back yesterdy and weigh one pound more that I did in June. This is a new start and I am going to do it this time.0 -
If you do find you slip up once in a while, and it'll happen as it has with most of us. Start fresh after you've realized it, "get up, wipe the dust off, and get back on track". Don't wait til lthe next day and don't beat yourself up about it. Admitting and acknowedging it if a huge step.
We're all in the same boat together and understand the struggles along the way. Together we will win the race!!0 -

I HAD 100lbs to lose 24th Jan Ive lost 16lbs so far a lifetime yoyoer but changing this take it a day at a time find the best mfp support buddies and come here everyday and you can do this look at it in small steps not 100lbs x0 -
I would bet everyone here has slipped up... many times. Just get back to it, chalk it up to a learning experience and go on.

i have also close to 100lbs to loose, but i try not to think about how much i have to loose, i have lost last year almost 40 lbs and gained everything back due to me going back to my old eating habits. So now i am back and its day 25 it took me 20 days to just start, i was slipping up and logging and not logging, and here and there,but the past 5 days i have started to log everything, i have been good for an entire 7 days !!! and thats all it took for me to get back into gear, the first 2 weeks are the hardest, to change everything, your eating habits, drinking lots of water etc. and then i started walking, i have been eating good, walking and drinking lots of water, and i cant believe it but i already lost 9lbs, and seeing that is what keeps me going, so start slowly, first start changing your eating habits, eat grains, fruits, veggies, i could never imagine that i will have carrots and PB for snack, but hey its so good, and also i cut down on sugar and after 7 days it starts to be normal thing. Then start exercising, just start walking put ur shoes on and go outside, walk-30minutes thats all. Do Zumba or something, after that it gets easier, u drink more water because u exercise ...all u have to do is START..dont look back, dont give up, i made a calendar for myself and gave myself 12 weeks to work on my weight. I am a visual person i have to have visualization, i also made cards with quotes and put them on my fridge, like "you are what you eat" "Motivation is what gets you started, but habit is what keeps you going" etc. When i go to the fridge to get stuff , i read the cards, and then i make a wise decision, there are always there i made them in flashy colors too so i can see them , so far its been good! The first thing you need to do is not look at it like a slip up, consider it a treat. I never depreive myself bc then it makes me go crazy. I just make sure I only eat the appropriate portion size and move on. I also make sure I get an extra workout in or add time to my workout. Another important thing is dont stop when you think you slipped up, keep on this journey. We all can relate and know it isnt easy but it can be done. I have been at it a month and need to loose 100lbs, I am only down 6. Thats not as much as I wished I could be at but I know my workouts are getting easier and my clothes are fitting differently and I have already had people notice the loss. So take each day and do your best and know that it is possible. If you want you can friend me for support, I know I could always use it0

I'm on day 15 and have 100+ to go. You are going to slip up - we all do. I have lost over 60 pounds twice (WeightWatchers) and managed to put it all back on plus some. Talk about slipping up! I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. When I fall I just have to get back up. I know I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.
My slip up time is likely to be after dinner. So I am trying to keep fresh fruit, yoghurt and other stuff around the house to make good choices in the evening. I also take a walk every evening after dinner. Not so much for the exercise - just to get out of the house. I try and do at least 30 minutes of walking each day - more if I can.

That slip up is going to happen some time. I've lost weight several times and it always happens at some point. Here is a key to what helped me . . . EAT. Make sure you are giving yourself enough food to sustain you each meal. If you're not sure how to do that, ask anyone on here. I'm sure you'll get lots of responses. That's been the key to my success of losing 50 lbs.
Also, make sure you are getting enough protein in your meals. It will help to keep you full. Leave the carbs alone as much as possible, otherwise you will continue to crave them. When you are hungry and afraid of going off the deep end, here is what helps me. I keep a protein shake at work and at home. Right now I'm using EAS AdvantantEdge Carb control. It has 17 g of protein, and 3 g of net carbs with only 110 calories. It will either supplement your meals, or just get you through to the next one.
I drink the chocolate fudge and it's delicious. My last tip . . . don't leave yourself open to a temptation. Get rid of the junk at your house. Buy fresh food and cook it for yourself. Remember, small and slow weight loss is better. Good luck to you.0 -
When I started I had 97 pounds to lose. If I concentrated on the fact that it was nearly 100lbs I would get discouraged. To me it seemed like it would be unreachable and take forever. I started working on trying to lose weight in 2010. My start weight was 217lbs. I'm 5'3" and my goal weight is 120. So far I've only lost 28lbs. After I started to lose weight in 2010 I got pregnant, so I had to take a break during my pregnancy and a little after. I lost weight during my pregnancy (not on purpose) and after I had my baby the weight (for the most part) stayed off. I was able to pick back up where I left off, but at a lower weight (205) and in January I started putting a lot more effort into weight loss. As of this morning I'm down to 189. It's been over 4 years since I've been this weight.
My best advice would be to set up small mini goals focus on reaching your first mini goal and then make the next one. Good luck! :-)0 -
I too have more than a 100 pounds to loose, and one things for sure is that I did not gain this weight all at one time, and neither will it leave all at one time. I keep in front of me the little victories I have had along the way thus far ie: going to the Y has made me feel better about myself, I sleep better at nite, I got back into a no stretch pair of jeans, my energy level is better and my body is changing. I am still working on emotional eating but I remember the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. Make little changes everyday: eating healthier, drinking more water, taking your vitamins, moving more, and learn to celebrate these just as much as you would with what you see on the scale. Keep moving forward one step at a time and be realistic and honest with yourself. Sure hope this helps. You can do this!!0

First and foremost, you should know that you can do it! I know you can! You are more capable than you think! And the best part is that, you can accomplish this but you might also have small struggles or battles to get through! And they will only make you stronger! The first week is the hardest to get in the groove of the new healthy style. I have about 80lbs to lose and I have lost 23 so far in just 2 months. You can do it! I'll tell you what helps me, especially in the beginning. First of all, the hardest part is making up your mind and starting, you've done that, GREAT job!! The second part is to either put up a picture of yourself when you were smaller, or if you don't have one, find someone that you would like to look like. Put it somewhere that you will see EVERDAY, and everyday tell yourself, I'm gonna do it! You may slip and have a bad day, or a bad week, BUT every time you see that picture it will bring you back. Once you have determined to do something, it's mind over matter. Set your surroundings up to help you, not bring you down. Set a lot of smaller goals so that the main goal is not so overwhelming. It's not going to come off all at once. You did the best thing by starting with the journalling your progress. Time flies when you have friends to help you lose the weight.0

The thing is though, I'm never going to eat like a pig every day, every week, every month, every year. It is what you eat on average that counts. So if you eat more on one day, it's no big deal.
This is the rest of your life we're talking about, not something you'll do for a few months.0 -
I'm on day 4 trying to lose 65-70 lbs. It's not quite 100 but still plenty. I think a positive outlook always helps. It's going to be hard but worth it in the end. Good luck! I know you can do it!0

Hi, I was where you are today. My highest was 265 and my goal weight is 145.. Thats 120 lbs lost challenge!! Today, Im 200 (as of Feb 29th, im going a month without the scale), but I know Ive lost 65 lbs so far and about 55 to go. If you look at it as 100 lbs to go, that is too scary. Instead focus on only 5-10 lbs. Then when you lose that 5-10 lbs, then focus on another 5-10 lbs. Trust me, thats how I got my 65 off. Feel free to friend add me if you want.0

The trick is don't give up, no matter what. We all have slip up's/doubts that will knock us back a bit but the key to loosing weight is finding the right balance of diet and exercise for you. Everyone is different so no one can tell you "do the same as me and you'll lose this then and that amount then" etc as chances are it won't happen that way.
I lost 54lbs in 2010 (over about 8 months) and i've put a lot back on since Jan 2011 (about 33lbs) because i'd met my (now) husband (as of last tuesday) and became settled in a very loving relationship. He doesn't care because he loves me for me but now i'm ready to start losing again. The thing is now I know I won't be able to use the diet I did then because my lifestyle has changed so my challenge is finding a new receipe for weightloss (pun unintended ) stick at, you'll be fine. There are so many people on here that will stick with you until you reach your goal and beyond. I slip all the time. main thing is to not give up and do it for you and your health. My momma always says "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels". Let me tell ya Cheese is pretty darn tasty. lol a lifestyle change is what your doing not a diet. Once I started this site and logging my food intake it really opens your eyes to what your consuming and the amount of calories that are in everything. I have about 100 pds to lose and i've dropped about 8 of them. it doesn't seem like alot but every pound that goes is like a one ound bag of sugar your no longer carrying around with you. I like visuals lol before you know it that 3 pounds you lost in a week turns into the twenty pounds you lost over a two month period. keep up the will and we will all show one another the way.0

It totally ok if you slip up. The main point is that you get back on it the next day
i could barely walk for 10 minutes when i first started trying to exercise or lose weight.
but i did it for 10 mins each day, thats all that i could handle that made me feel comfortable. then i added 5 mins each week,
and now im up to 40 mins a day.
you get a brand new chance every day!! dont give up!!!0
