To buy new clothes or not?

So it seems that none of my bottoms fit me anymore. I didn't notice until a couple of days ago when the weather warmed up and I wanted to wear shorts/capris. I went most of the winter wearing sweatpants/tights to class everyday and not really noticing that none of my pants fit. As much as I'd love to go on a shopping spree right now, I don't have money to throw around (especially if I buy something and it will no longer fit in a couple of months) and I'm not at my goal yet. I'd say I have maybe 2 or 3 sizes more to go. What did you guys do about clothes during your weight loss?

I get this, but I think you need to maybe get one or two things that look good on you right now. It is great motivation to keep going. I makes us feel good to look good and a new outfit or piece of clothing really helps.

I go to either thrift shops or stores that don't cost much at all. I pay no more then $10 for jeans, and no more then $10 for a top, I try to go cheaper then that. For dresses I actually have only spent about $8 at the highest. You can buy cheaper clothes, just to get you by till you hit your goal. I only buy a few things at a time, lately I've been moving through sizes a lot quicker then I thought I would, So I really try to hit up sales or thrift shops or just stores like Ross Dress for less, cus no point in spending $50 on a pair of jeans I'll wear maybe 2 or 3 months...

This. Until my body is where I want it, there is not point in purchasing new. I have actually gotten a bunch of higher quality clothing than I would usually purchase this way. It is sort of nice getting a suit jacket that would have been several hundred dollars for $5.

Go ahead and buy a few things, but look for good sales and in the clearance racks... I went down a size recently and I don't have a lot of money to burn on new stuff either but I found a couple pairs of jeans at JCPenny that were $4. Felt so good to actually see the progress because it didn't look like I lost anything even though I was pulling my pants up every few seconds. I felt so motivated

I would say this is a huge NSV! Congratulations on losing enough to have your pants falling off you! Haha! Like others have said, you gotta have pants, so along your journey you will need to buy a couple cheap clothes items along the way. Keep up the good work!

great job on the weight loss.. its a great feeling when things don't fit.. I love shopping at thrift stores. you find the most unique things there,, this past weekend I went to a really nice one and found my Easter dress with pockets.. i absolutely love it. we also spent only 50 bux for 2 men's jackets, 6 tshirts, 5 pairs of jeans for my son, MY DRESS, and a few tops for me.. totally worth buying second hand

I won't shop second hand. I've just been buying new clothes this week. I look for good sales. This is the forth season for me buying a new wardrobe!!

I just replaced 3 pairs of jeans, I too was reluctant, just going to out to try on new jeans was scary. But I'm so glad I did, people kept telling me "you need to go buy new jeans" my old ones were literally falling off as I walked

So I'd say yes, buy a couple of outfits you feel good in

I hate clothing shopping, always have. But unfortunately it is a necessity. Either buy 2nd hand or pick up a limited number of new things.

    Congrats!

I'm in the beginning stages of having this problem too. A lot of my pants and skirts are starting to get loose. I figure that the best thing to do when nothing fits anymore is to buy some really cheap replacements. I was thinking of going to Goodwill or Target. Then, when I'm down to my goal weight/size, I'll do the huge shopping spree for a whole new wardrobe.

I just started a new job and had to go shopping for dress clothes. I found some great bargins by checking the clearance racks and actually found a pair of pants at the thrift store that still had the tags on them. So go out and buy yourself a few new things...you deserve it!!
