Can anyone tell me why it is bad to drink alcohol while dieting? As long as you stay within your calories, why would it be bad?

  • I'm with You!! Except I drink red wine and it has never affected my weight loss. I've read that folks that have a slower metabolism should not drink much alcohol.

I think that the body is working so hard to burn off the alcohol as that it can not do the job of burning fat during the 2-3 hours that the alcohol is in your bloodstream.

I'm was wondering also. I do know that alcohol is a diuretic, so it makes you pee a lot (which could potentially dehydrate you), also it makes you swell/bloat. I don't drink much or often, but I have often wondered if there was something else in addition to those reasons that I was missing.

Your body sees alcohol as sugar.....I dunno, there are lots of reasons why, you can Google it.

I say, Rum Diary! Great idea! :drinker:

i drink white wine like its my job....apparently thats just about the worst alcohol to drink. but my theory on it is, you have to make the diet fit your life. and im certainly not cutting out on my wine. i hear its like guaranteed weight loss if you quit drinking all together but who the hell wants to do that?

side note: i think alcohold should be required to have the nutrition label on it! everything else is, why not alcohol? i'd love to know how many calories i drink in that big ole botte (or maybe not!)

have a drink, i dont see it making any significant changes in weight gain or loss.
    CHEERS!
