Hello
.
My name is Kathie. I’m new to this site. I have been trying to lose 25 lbs for a year now and all I do is yo-yo around. I have a weakness for sweets! I can't seem to stop eating them. I've tried eating 1200 calories but I find that I'm hungry all the time. I up my calories to 1500 and now all I eat are sweet. :(

Any suggestions?

Get away from sugar, and after a short while, you wont want it. It is like heroine tho, one little bit, and youre hooked again. hope that helps.:flowerforyou:

When I want something sweet, I try to either eat a piece of fruit or eat a few frozen yogurt dots. They are easy to make just put a container of fat free yogurt into a sandwich bag and twist like a pastry bag, cut the tip off and squeeze dots of yogurt onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and freeze. They freeze in about 1 hour and they satisfy the sugar craving. If you can go for a walk it helps to take your mind off the craving.

For health reasons I had to give up coffee for awhile. 10-12 double shot espresso's to zero. It will be crap but just cold turkey. Cut it out. IF family are behind you get let them help you. Make a system to account. Every sweet you eat you have to put .10 cents in a jar. if that don't help up the $ amount until you give it up. After awhile you won't crave it and when you do eat it a little will be enough. Now I can have coffee again and most of the time one cup regular black is enough where normally I would have had 12 double shot's. Hope it helps.

Try putting Chia seeds in your water (or yogurt, anything is fine) - it helps me stay full longer :)

Instead of processed sweets like candy try for natural tasting sweets like fruit and some veggies even sweet potatoes. Drink more water to make yourself feel full. 1500 is good to start with if that's what mfp set you up at and then later when you feel up to it or you hit a plateau you can play with your intake a little. Sometimes urges like this are just things that you've setup as comforts in your past so start thinking of other ways to make yourself feel better; exercise, reading, walking, anything. You can lose the weight just take it a day at a time and try to get a hold of your cravings before they get a hold of you.
  • sugar... eat fresh fruits instead of processed sugars... yes, calories are calories, but the fruits have vitamins and nutrients that will benefit your body. plus the fiber fills you up. the processed foods are already processed and your body will digest them and want more to be filled up. eat more fruits and veggies... and drink lots of water or 0 calories vitamin waters, not soda or juice...

Try eating more protein. It will keep you full.

Also, I would suggest any REALLY bad treats in the house just the throw them away or give them to a friend. I know this can be really hard because I have a MASSIVE sweet tooth. One of my secrets is tootsie pops. At only 60 calories a pop they are a good sweet treat

It's hard to get off sugar, it's like Crack.
Try to wean yourself off of it by reducing the amount. I was eating 2 bags of candy per day :(
Now I try to only one serving per day. Don't keep it in the house. Make sure you have to go out of your way to get to any sugar.
