From what I understand, and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't target fat burn. Unfortunately it's just going to come off wherever it comes off at. Usually the first place you gain it is the last place you lose it (at least that's something I heard somewhere lol) but the point is you can do a 1000 situps and it's not really gonna make a difference. Just keep eating right, doing your cardio and strength training and it'll come off in due time. Always more difficult to take off than it is to put on but if you stick with it you'll see major changes. Good luck =)

Last year when I lost the bulk of my weight (most of which I've put back on by now) I got rid of my love handles almost completely by doing lots and lots of power walking outside, about an hour every day. It helped my stomach become a lot flatter too. I didn't do any special ab exercises, it was just the general fat loss from my whole body that got rid of my side fat really effectively.
And eating well is the most important thing of course :)

There are many methods, which one works for you will require experimentation. Here are some but not all:

    1) Cal deficit and weight training as mentioned earlier.
    2) Hormone manipulation using diet (ie low carb to minimize insulin production during the day, then load up on carbs post training)
    3) Intermittent fasting to aid in stimulation of blood flow in stubborn fat deposits
    4) High intensity interval training for your cardio
    5) build more muscle to increase resting metabolic rate (this does not mean bulking up like a man, women generally have a very hard time doing this, not all mind you but most)

Eat clean. Watch your sugar intake. Lift heavy.

Watching your sugar is KEY though - I usually keep mine to <5g per meal and <35g per day. Check out my pictures for progress pics.

Eat right and exercize. You can't spot reduce. Losing weight overall will trim you down all over.

I'd say exercize and a calorie deficit. You cannot spot loose fat. It comes off proportionally. So whatever you noticed comming on first, for me it was belly fat, will come off completely last. Mine's finally disappearing. And as far as how you eat, I've found just having a calorie defict, thats it. Of course you want to make sure your body's getting it's nutrients, so you have the energy to put into your workouts.

Where you store fat is genetic. There is way to spot reduce. It is simple math reduce calorie intake, increase calorie burn or some combo of the two and you will lose weight. The simple answer is eat fewer calories, do more cardio and some weight training if you have time and inclination. (Crunches and sit-ups will strengthen your abs but if you don't burn enough calories you will just have better muscle hiding under belly fat.)

you can't spot reduce. you have to reduce your overall body fat until genetics dictates that the spots you want to go, go.

moderate caloric deficit, lifting heavy, HIIT - that's how you get there.

    or lipo.

i would like to lose about three inches off my tummy by the end of march i am going to do a low fat diet with a lot of cardio and weight lifting plus a few crunches when you have fat spots you can trim them with a low fat diet and alot of target exercises it will use up your fat storages

You can't spot target fat but you can with muscle. Try engaging your obliques more by doing side planks and side crunches. Eating healthy will reduce the fat and by sculpting your obliques it will tighten everything up and show some nice definition. Good luck.

This. I get a belly bump (where I store my fat) and I'm pretty positive it's genetic. You're probably similar. My stomach has definitely transformed a lot after I maintained a decent calorie deficit, ate cleaner, and exercised on a regular basis so follow the same guidelines! And as mentioned, working out will definitely strengthen your core, but it won't become visibly noticeable until the layers of fat are diminished or much smaller. Cardio, strength training, and ab routines are your best bet! I'm sure you've heard of Jillian Michaels by now-SHE WILL GET YOU THERE. Her DVDs-30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30-are based on 3 circuits that include 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs. Do it and you will see results in those 30 days (or 60 if you do both, like most people do)! Make sure you're staying dedicated to your goals, making good decisions in your diet, drinking lots of water, and working hard :) Best of luck, xoxo

I've struggled with this for over a year! I started couch to 5k and that slimmed me a little but I recently started a heavy lifting program (New Rules of Lifting for Women) and I have noticed a huge difference in just the 2 months I've been lifting! I think heavy lifting using multiple muscles (of course including your CORE) is the key!

    Eat correctly.

If you arent eating 10-20% below TDEE you wont lose it.
If you are eating way below TDEE and closer to BMR you wont lose it.
  • Eat clean and run. Gave me the body I always dreamed off :)
