I think it's a pretty common problem. At least it is for me. All the research I've been able to do says it isn't a big deal (in moderate amounts). Haw far are you going over? A lot of literature I've read says you should be taking 0.5-1.0 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Which seems like a lot (about 3.2X what MFP recommends).

I'm pretty consistent in going over by about 50%.

Percent of grams? I'm usually 50-70 grams over.

Do NOT worry about going over in protein. It helps maintain lean mass and is good for you. MFP's default limit per day is really low. I take in between 120g-180g of protein a day..

I have been over, as well. I did some research and it sounds like the mfp numbers are low, especially if you are working out. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm more concerned about keeping under the fat and sodium recommendations.

I switched my macros to 40%carb/30%protein/30%fats.

I try to get MORE protein. Personally, I aim for about 120g a day.

There is nothing wrong with "fats." in moderation. Actually, they are fairly essential for your body and a typical adult needs a certain amount for survival. Just try your best to have a lower amount of saturated and trans fats. Unsaturated fats have a lot of health benefits-these are the kind you find in nuts and oils.

"Fats" making you fat is a myth.
