Yes. I started taking them last year, and for the first time in my life my fingernails are strong, and I didn't get seasonal depression this winter.

Your doc is on to something.

Yup! I have Vitamin D deficiency and I'm also in the middle of the woods of Maine (no sun almost ever) plus I rarely drink milk, so I take a supplement.

    Hi -
Just so happens that I read a lot of articles about vitamin D last year, so I started taking it every day. I highly recommend everyone getting their levels checked. For me, it has given me more energy and I also believe it helps with depression. :)

My level was 9. I believe normal is 30. Doc put me on prescription D - 50,000 IU's - once a week for a month. I have never felt better in my life! I used to be so incredibly achey. I just chalked it up to getting old. Also helped tremendously with anxiety and seasonal depression. I now take 3,000 IU's daily to maintain.

My old and new doc check this when I get blood tests. I had been taking 1 D3-2000 per day, but after my most recent test, I was told to take 2 per day. I guess it's good for bones, breasts, colon health, mood, immuity, etc. My hair and nails have been growing like weeds recently too. Good stuff!!!

I have been able to go completely off my anti-depressant due to Vitamin D. Additionally between D and eating right and exercise I no longer have any symptoms of IBS

Yes, I take vitamin D3 daily. After blood work, my doctor put me on D3. I've had to change the dosage a few times and I'm now up to 3,000 IU's a day.

Funny how "they" have been telling us, "Avoid the sun at all costs!" Now, we're learning the cost: Vitamin D deficiency.

    I take 2000 IU D3 daily on doctor's advice.

Ehhhh I fake bake pretty regularly so I'm nowhere near vitamin D deficient. Horrible, horrible habit though :embarassed:

5000 ui a day and I have not been sick since I s tarted it in July. Even a small cold when I feel it coming on usually is gone before it even sets in. It has given me more energy, boost my lack of energy and kept me from getting ill. I am a huge promoter of this and do think it is a miracle drug. LOL (or vitamin at least)

I take 2000IU a day. It is the dose my dr recommends as a daily dose for all his patients, up here in Alberta.

According to the research out there, unless you're in a tropical zone, you're probably deficient in D. I take 20,000% of my RDA daily, and that just brings me up to high normal!

I take the vitamin D and I also have a website about Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms. As you probably know I believe that increasing your levels is a very smart thing to do. I think it can only help get you more fit. Study after study show how vitamin d helps with this and helps with that. • I take a Vitamin D supplement every day, I was fatigued and depressed and constantly getting illnesses and infections for about 6 months, and finally three months ago talked to my doctor, had some blood work done and was deficient in D. Starting taking 2000 UI every day, within a week or two I noticed a difference, now I'm feeling so much better and happier and have tons more energy. It really is a big deal.

I take 5600 per day in the winter months. When it gets sunny enough, I'll drop that back to 2000

Vitamin D has totally changed me. I was deficient, and my doctor placed me on 8000u/day for 3 months. Now I'm down to 4000u/day and my labs are within normal limits. I was very tired and depressed for a long time. Idk if it's the placebo effect, but I like to think the vitamin d helped me out a lot with those symptoms. I recommend up to 2000u/day if you are symptomatic, but anything more, consult your doctor and get your level tested.

I was just recently diagnosed with a Vitamin D deficiency also. The doctor suggested 2000 units daily on top of my multivitamin. Too early to know if it's working, but I'm hoping to find my energy again. There is nothing else wrong to explain it.
  • Yeah!! So funny you posted this, I actually just got my bloodwork back, and I was LOW, like, reaaaaaallly low. I started taking a supplement (although just a one a day...I've also heard that if you "overdose" on any one vitamin it can also be bad?) and I do del better.

My work-up also showed that I was low on B12, which is what my pcp suspected and why she ordered the work in the first place. Both B12 and D can help improve mood and energy since they help increase red blood cell count...or so I'm told. Anyway, I'm feel in great so....maybe it is true?
