Hey everyone! I have decided to challenge myself to a low carb challenge for the month of august, anyone wanting to join me, really should because i think its a good way to support eachother through such a big challenge, what it will consist of is cutting out all major carbs such as bread, pastas, potatoes, etc....this is not a NOCARB challenge, because you can get carbs from fruit and such and it is not healthy to cut out carbs completely, but simply a challenge to reduce those extra carbs that I seem to eat all the time.....Good luck to all that are interested in joining!!!

I am in. I did this twice before and lost a bunch of weight. The hard part is staying away from the breads and also having energy to work out. I am with ya.

I'm in. I just started changing my entire diet to low carbs and more protein and what a difference. I have more energy too. I am also doing circuit training at the gym and what a workout. We have this thing now called pairs exercise. I exercise twice a week with a trainer and my sister. We did some boxing last night. That was extremely hard, but also fun! I lost 2 lbs since signing up with this website and I am so excited. I have about 22 lbs more to go. Thanks to all of you. You all give me encouragement!:smokin:

Hi. I have been living low carb since December 29, 2009 and my blood work has improved tremendously and I am off all medications due to being diabetic and had high blood pressure.

I have been researching many studies that show that eating saturated fats in the absence of eating processed foods is actually healthy for you. I am living proof that it seems to be true. I eat more saturated fats and my cholesterol went down. I removed the processed foods, bread, rice and pasta.

    Good Luck to everyone here.

Okay everyone! so I decided that the challenge can start on Monday August 3rd, I thought monday would be a good day to start it, and It would go on to September 3rd. So good luck to everyone, and I encourage you all to post about how your days are going, and what have been your struggles, once you start the challenge! Good luck!

P.S. if you also want to note any weight changes during the month, feel free, maybe every monday we can post our weight, and then we can see if the low-carb has made a good impact!!!!

Ok, sounds good. that way I can stock up my fridge again this weekend with veggies and go to the farm for fresh meat and eggs.
  • Yes, count me in! I've been wanting to get started again and here's my motivation. I'm 50 yrs old now and it seems the scale is going in the wrong direction and I need to do something about it.

May I join too? I've been doing lower fat/low carb for quite a while now, off and on for a couple of years, but have really buckled down in the last few months. I'm losing more slowly this time, but I'm losing - that's what counts.

I'm a 39 yo F who intends to be at a much healthier weight next March when I turn 40. I've been losing about 10 pounds a month this time around - which is nice and healthy - and sustainable. That's key for me personally.

Looking forward to "talking" to all of you!
  • I would like to join! I actually started eating low carb today! I am excited about the results I could potentially see!

I would love to join this challenge! I have been thinking about doing this exact thing...limiting my carb intake. I think it is especially difficult when you do not eat chicken or meat..so I naturally fill up on other carbs. How do we track our efforts in this group? Accountibilty?

So, my first day without the major carbs! wow, i feel better already, definitely a challenge in the kitchen, but this is nice, I am able to learn new recipes and new alternatives....my starting weight is 156 lbs....and for those asking about how we keep track, this is not really about challenging against others, but challenge yourself to the month without the carbs....and we are here all together for support and to weigh in every once in a while to see the improvements that we have made.....!!! and also to support eachother when we are craving those bad foods lol.....Good luck everyone!!!

    I am doing great, myself!!!

I am slowly beginning to transition over from Atkins to the Primal Blueprint way of eating.

I need to start exercising more and they weight will go even faster along with toning up too.
