Getting fit just to become pregnant again??

Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me or has been through this before...I am trying mainly to gain muscle (and also to lose the stomach fat!) and have started strength training recently, but my husband and I are planning to try to have another baby sometime at the end of this year. I know that I am helping my body by trying to become more fit, but sometimes I feel so frustrated that I will soon be pregnant and then have to start (what feels like) all over again. Anyone here done this? Were you able to lose weight and bounce back any faster? Advice??

When you do become pregnant just try to not go crazy with eating everything and keep the good habbits.0

I was in incredible shape the first time around, I walked out of the hospital in size 2 jeans. By the time I was 2 weeks post-pardum, I looked like I had never been pregnant (except my boobs!)
The second time...I was in terrible shape when it started and it was very very difficult to lose the weight after because of it. I would definitely get yourself in shape! Also makes labor easier, when your body is trained for a marathon, it can handle a labor marathon a little better!0 -
I am in the exact same boat. I'm planning to get pregnant towards the end of the year and I started trying to lose there in January. I need to lose 80lbs but I know I won't make that before I get pregnant so I plan to use mfp to try not to gain too much weight other than baby weight and then just start over once I'm done.
The way I'm thinking about it is I am now making a lifestyle change. Having a baby is part of life and I just hope that the stuff I'm learning now will help me not gain too much and keep me on the right track.
But I get where ur coming from. I'm scared of just resorting back to my old bad ways and undoing all my good work.0 -
@emnjjsmom Well that's good to hear about the labor part; I had a non-medicated birth, but it felt very close to death (hopefully there's no non-moms reading that)! I thought I was in good shape the 1st time, but I am already way more fit now than I was about 1.5 years ago when I had my first child.0

It's not all for nothing. Your pregnancy is more likely to go well if you are fit when you get pregnant. There's also something called fetal programming, in which pregnancy can affect disease and risk factors for your baby later in life. For example, children of obese women are more likely to struggle with obesity later in life for a number of reasons, such as how their cells' fat receptors developed during pregnancy.0

I've done it. Eh, no, it's not easier. I started at 165, gained 25lbs w/ #1, got back to 165 in 6 months. Gained 25lbs with #2. Got down to 165 by 6 months again, but this time I kept going. Got down to 145 by 10 months, best shape of my life at that point. Got pregnant again. Gained 45 this time, so yeah, gained the extra 20 I had lost. I was pretty irritated, and it took me well over a year to get down to 149...... but then I started strength training and am now in better shape now at 160 than I was at 145.
Being pregnant sucks, but babies are worth it. You know that. Do what you can to get healthy now, and yeah, do it again after the next baby. It would be dumb to "stay fat" just because you know you are going to get pregnant again.0
