No LARPers on MFP at all?0

It's like playing fantasy right. I got some fantasies I wanna play out. I'm down to LARP, who's with me?0

Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!!
...that's all I know0 -
Funny! No, I am not talking about "those fantasies"!
And at NERO we have lightning bolts too. Kind of corny I know, but there is an incant for it and everything. "I call forth lightning bolt 10!"0 -
LARP????? what exactly is that???0

I know there is a LARPing group near where I live but I've never had the time to join them. Plus, I'm pretty sure I know most of them and honestly I don't get along with the majority of known 'Larpers' around here...
RPing is fun though. I've done that several times in my lifetime.0 -
I never have LARPed myself, but I've been an online roleplayer for years. A few of my Everquest friends LARP - I think one of them is in NERO as well. Looks like fun!0

LARP????? what exactly is that???
L.ive. A.ction.R.ole.P.lay.
It's like... an unscripted, unfilmed movie... where all the actors/actresses improvise.0 -
LARP????? what exactly is that???
Live Action Role Playing.
Ever see the movie Role Models?0 -
I seriously have always wanted to LARP. I have just never gotten the chance!
It's looks so fun >.<0 -
I have LARPed in the past but I'm shy so it was only with a close group of friends and it wasn't fantasy so much as our own random made up characters for fun.
I have cosplayed though and have a lot of friends who go to conventions to do so.0 -

I cosplayed once... at work... no one knew... because I cosplayed as one of those totally generic, boring characters that you could totally meet in real life. Hee.0 -
No LARPing, just ex-WoW. : ) LARPing is much better exercise! I bet you could burn a lot of calories!0

Went to the Gathering last year in the UK and loved it. Going back again this year. Otherwise I stick to tabletop RP, since most of my friends prefer that. Do treasure my mace though :P0

I clearly do not understand LARPing... My kids do this all the time, I just call it imaginary play :ohwell:0

Loved that game as a kid and would love to try it as an adult.
When you think about it though, every movie actor ever is basically LARPing... except someone gives them their lines... and makes their character up for them.0 -

I think it goes something like this.

lmao yeahhh0 -
I would totally recommend to anyone to try LARPing. Especially NERO, even if you are shy at NERO you can always find a group to hang out with. At NERO I have seen people transformed from shy people that wouldn't even look you in the eyes at school become the center of attention (gladly) and fight like a boss. It's also great exercise. At NERO we do boffer fighting where we fight with foam padded spears, swords, hammers, axes, etc. I never fail to come home from a NERO event with sore legs from running throught the woods and sore arms from sparring. NERO can also be very complex to workout you brain too There are murder mysteries and clues that need pieced together.0

I like to dress up as Kim Kardashian. I look more like the bigger sister though.0

I am told there are all ranges, there are groups with casual and then very "into" it with realistic costumes and 100% IC. The gathering is sort of the "party event" of the year, so that is more relaxed. It is also a rather big event. Two good reasons for me to choose that as a 1/year thing hehe. Fight with latex weapons, so semi-realistic looking.
Was also in the SCA, but it just confuses me - so much inbetween LARP and reenactment. Fun though and mostly nice people. Love the Rapier fighting there, and would have loved Heavy fighting as well, but agreed that it wouldnt be smart to risk injuries hehe.0 -
I larp in Hampton Virginia with a group called orcslarp. It is a lot of fun and a great way to burn calories while having fun!0
