Increasing Calorie Intake?

IMPORTANT QUESTION!
Ok so for the past 2 months I've been on a strict diet of 1,200 calories. Some days 1,065. It ranges. But I'm never over 1,200. Doing this and burning about 500 calories a day, I lost 19 pounds. But in the past 2 weeks I haven't lost any weight and actually gained a pound. I've tried some research and everyone says when you eat more, you lose more? Is this true? I'm so confused! And I'm scared if I up my calorie intake, I'll gain all the weight I lost!

its true. I was on a 1200 calorie diet. I lost weight but stalled. I upped my calories to 1500 (my bmr is 1600) and I've been losing a lot more each week. try to eat around your bmr. you can Lose weight even by eating above you bmr. calculate your TDEE and subtract 500 for every pound you want to lose weekly. that's what I did.0

Sorry if I'm a bit thick......... what's BMR ?0

Go to tools on MFP you can figure out your Basil Metabolic Rate. Go to: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html to figure out your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. Stay between the two numbers.0

Thanks Just did the calculationsand I'm not eating enough calories. It's scary to think of eating MORE?! For years I've been eating a lot less. Think I'm afraid of putting weight back on after all o the hard work it took to lose it. I assume that this does work for everyone - no exceptions?0

My range is anywhere from 1500 to 2200. I was on strict 1200, lost 16lbs pretty fast, about 2 months (that is fast to me) and then I stalled! Upped my cals and dropped 2.2lbs in a week! Gotta feed the machine!!0

Congratz on the loss but...you know that 20-50% of the loss was lean mass right?
Check out the link on my profile.
Its open to anyone.
It changed my life and I have used it and several other resources like it to change others lives.
Youll be surprised at how much you should be eating to lose just fat and maintain lean mass.
I dont think you want to extend your diet any longer by having you eat well above TDEE to rebuild lost muscle.
Am I right?0 -
Thanks for the help guys! It is really scary to up my calories. Before I was only eating 1,000 calories a day and I just got over the fear of having more calories. This is going to take a lot. But from what you guys tell me, it's better. So thank you!0
